Crushing on October

Hey there Berries,

Hubby and I are both crushing a bit on [name_f]October[/name_f], however I can’t help but wonder if it’s a bit of a “fad” name?

On one hand, my thought is “if [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], and [name_f]April[/name_f] are acceptable than why not, right?”

On the other hand, is it just too month-y? [name_m]Will[/name_m] it trend and die?

:sunflower: What do you think about [name_f]October[/name_f]? :sunflower:

I like [name_f]October[/name_f]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it peaks in popularity soon, I don’t think it will be the end of the world.

That’s very lucky. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] if [name_u]July[/name_u] was born in [name_u]June[/name_u] :grimacing:

Hey let me tell you something, [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]September[/name_f] and I kinda dislike it bc A LOT of people get it wrong, i’ve been called, [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], and [name_u]December[/name_u] so I say no in my opinion but if that’s what you and your husband want then go for it.
P.S Everyone I meet always says, “Were you born in [name_f]September[/name_f]?” and I always respond with, “Nope, but I was born in [name_f]October[/name_f].”

I think @RobinCobblepot should get the biggest weigh in here for her actual experience with an uncommon month name. As much as I think [name_f]October[/name_f] sounds like a fun, fresh new word name, it will come with its drawbacks. Some people will accidentally mess it up, others will tease on purpose. [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t take it off the list yet, but do keep adding. It might end up fitting well as a middle to something else.

I’m just not a fan of [name_f]October[/name_f]. I don’t like how it sounds. And I feel like it is going to be one of those names that will trend and then take a nosedive. I think it’s just about as useable as [name_u]July[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u], though.

I don’t hate it but I get more of a boys vibe from it. Maybe because of the “[name_u]Toby[/name_u]” sound

I like month names in general. I know of a [name_f]September[/name_f] and she pulls it off well. [name_u]Toby[/name_u] is a cute nickname that I think of a gender neutral. Actually I prefer it on a girl. The full [name_f]October[/name_f] is a big name to carry, but it could work. I’d love to run into a little kid named [name_f]October[/name_f].

Oh, I looove [name_f]October[/name_f]! I do slightly prefer it on a boy, but I think it works on a girl as well. I don’t think of it as a “fad” name.

[name_f]October[/name_f] is my favorite girl’s name, so I’m all for going for it!

As @RobinCobblepot said, there could be some drawbacks, but I don’t think one of them is being a “fad” name, at least not in the US, where it hasn’t even cracked the top 1000. It’s a familiar word name, not usually used for a name, but still recognizable.

It’s super intriguing. Check out the song “[name_f]October[/name_f]” by U2. Haunting and lovely!

You make an interesting point as we do use other month names as names! I think it’s mostly down to the fact that, for me, [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]April[/name_f] sound pretty and upbeat and [name_f]October[/name_f] doesn’t really have the same prettiness about it?
Maybe it has something to do with the seasons?
Having said that I do think [name_u]January[/name_u] is usable.

I love [name_f]October[/name_f] for either a girl or boy with the nicknames [name_u]Toby[/name_u] or Tober and don’t think of it as a fad name at all!

I second the idea of [name_u]Toby[/name_u] as a nickname! That would be awesome…

October is my favorite girl’s name, with the adorable nickname [name_u]Tobey[/name_u]. I love the alluring O, And the gorgeous imagery. I like the [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables connection, with [name_u]Anne[/name_u] being so glad to live in a world that has Octobers. It’s just stunning.

Thanks for your thoughts, all!

Our current combination is [name_f]October[/name_f] “[name_u]Tobie[/name_u]” [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f], with a second middle pending. This combination is not at the top of our list, just an idea in the works.

@RobinCobblepot Thanks so much for weighing in with your real life experiences. That’s super helpful! [name_f]September[/name_f] definitely sounds heavier to me than other month names, and I can see how it could be frustrating.
