Current crush: Leoni/e

Currently crushing on a name that I rediscovered the other day - [name_u]Leoni[/name_u]/e. I started to like it more because of the idea of the nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m] for a girl!

What are your thoughts?

I prefer [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Leona[/name_f]!). [name_u]Leoni[/name_u] spelling just looks incomplete to me, sorry. I think it’s cute and spunky.

I like both [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f]. I too prefer the traditional spelling. I think the “ie” ending looks very elegant.

I love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]!! It’s so sweet

I love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] (and [name_f]Leona[/name_f])! [name_u]Leoni[/name_u] seems incomplete to me.

[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] seems nicknamey to me (I also prefer ‘ie’), so I would use [name_f]Leona[/name_f] with the nicknames [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m].

I think it’s pretty and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are both spunky.

[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]? The only [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] I’ve ever known pronounced it like [name_f]Leia[/name_f] - so [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-on-ee. It’s such a pretty name but the potential for different pronunciations always put me off a bit, a bit like [name_f]Esme[/name_f], where I’ve known people pronounce it Es-me or Es-may.

I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m]- names! [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f] are favourites of mine.

I think [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is so cute!! It’s on my list.

Question: do you know that there are two pronnciations: [name_m]LAY[/name_m] - own - ee and [name_u]LEE[/name_u] - own - ee. Thought you’d like to know.

I love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], it’s very sweet and elegant. That being said, I don’t like the idea of [name_m]Leo[/name_m] on a girl.

It’s a cute choice.

I love it. I like names ending in an ee sound, like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]

Any leonies that I know pronounce it [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-OH-nee

My child minder was called [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], pronounced [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-OH-nee, I have very fond memories with the name!
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_f]Iona[/name_f] are names that cross over in my mind, I love them both.

I like both [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f], I’m not so sure about [name_u]Leoni[/name_u] as it seems a little incomplete to me.

[name_f]Adore[/name_f] this name! [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is perfect for a little girl and looks more complete and sophisticated than [name_u]Leoni[/name_u] for an adult

I’m not keen on [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] however you spell it. I like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] as a nn though - I’d use [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_f]Leonore[/name_f], or any [name_m]Le[/name_m] name such as [name_f]Letitia[/name_f] - to get [name_m]Leo[/name_m] nn rather than [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].
