Here is my long list (not necessarily in any order of preference). Ideally I would like to have a top 10. Which are your favorites and which would you cut? I am wanting sweet, feminine, classic names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] any of these not fit that description?
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] - I know these are all super popular but I still love them enough to use them
[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f] - Too short/boring? Might work better as nicknames?
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] - too dated?
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] - too hard to wear in real life?
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (you could use [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a nickname)
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
I would keep:
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - although personally I would keep [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and cut [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
I would cut:
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] (Instead of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], I think this is more classic and pretty.)
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] (Instead of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], again more classic and pretty, with a nicer look and sound. Less common too.)
And yes, I would consider [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] as too hard to wear. I also don’t think it fits the description you are looking for - it feels heavy, dusty and quite dark, but still very feminine. To put it in simpler terms, it’d be the perfect name for a fairy tale princess with a dark side.
I love your taste in names so this was tough. I’ve written some petty complaints just in order to narrow it down
My top 10 from your list, NOT in order are:
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] - My favourite spelling. It’s popularity doesn’t stop it being on my list either
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] - as above
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - on my list, I love the nn possibilities
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - A nice take on [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I have negative associations otherwise it would be on my list
[name_f]Kathrine[/name_f] - to similar to my name otherwise it would be on my list
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] - nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f], sweet and proper - classic
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] -A lovely take on the [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/Em__ trend
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f] - I always prefer to go for a longer name that can be shortened if it suits
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] - I love it but ask the same question about this one. [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] perhaps?
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - nn penny or pip, very cute
Names that didn’t make the cut:
[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f] - They don’t really fit with rest of your choices but some work well at nn. Others could definitely be middles.
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] not a fan of the ‘[name_m]Gab[/name_m]’ at the begining
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is fresher alternative but still classic
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f], it would be my 11th
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] - I still feels dated to me. I also don’t really like the double S sound but it depends on the surname.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - A bit of a mouthful but lovely
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] - Dated. The only name I really don’t like on your list.
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] - All the characters I’ve seen/read with this name haven’t been nice so I don’t have good associations
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] - A little hard to wear but if you were happy to have her called mainly by a nn (lots to chose from) I think it would work.
In order to help narrow down, I think the [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] theme are pretty common today but great options for a middle name.
My favorites are:
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
When I see [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] in my head I say [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and have to adjust, not sure if that happens to anyone else but a thought.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] seem like a mouthful to say for youngins might could work with nn like [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Viv[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].
The others are great, I personally just didn’t like as much as the list above.
