Cute? Or Just Weird?

I’m trying to find middle names for a set of names I like, so I’m all over the place, on a million different sites, and forums trying to scope out, and ask for all the names anyone can think of. I’ve found a few different options, but I sometimes like sort of strange names. I need advice on whether you guys think these names are useable. Do they flow? Are they cute? Do they have any meanings I should know about? All that stuff.

First Names

  • Tolliver (Tall-iv-err)(Male)
  • Romilly (Rom-ill-ee)(Female)
  • Mercer (Mer-sir)(Male)
  • Briony (Bri-oh-knee)(Female)

Middle Names

  • Roscoe (Ross-co)(Male)
  • Laszlo (Lass-low)(Male)
  • Huxley (Hucks-lee)(Male)
  • Capri (Kuh-pree)(Female)
  • Rasmus (Razz-muhs)(Male)
  • Maeve (Mayv)(Female)
  • Verona (Ver-oh-nuh)(Female)
  • Viola (Vee-oh-luh)(Female)
  • Godric (God-rick)(Male)

I know some of these names can, and probably will, if used, be pronounced differently than the ways I’ve spelled them, that’s okay.

I’d like advice on these names, which first names you like best with which middle names, and any suggestions for similar middle names.

Edit: Note that this is a running list.

Thanks in advance.

I think you’ve made another post about this, where I already said I really like [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], don’t like [name_m]Mercer[/name_m], and would like [name_f]Briony[/name_f] if it was written as [name_f]Bryony[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

For middle names, I like the sound of [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Roscoe[/name_m] (it has dashing, storybook vibes to me!) and [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (really sunny, bouncy sound!). But all of your middle names are usable! I personally wouldn’t do [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] just because I dislike the practice of taking a name from another language and using it pronounced incorrectly. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f], really underrated!

[name_f][/name_f]

Some middles you may like: [name_f]Runa[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Fiora[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Lumi[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f], [name_f]Una[/name_f] // [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Adler[/name_m], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_m]Ellis[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_f]Winslow[/name_f], [name_m]Rio[/name_m], [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m], [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], [name_m]Jude[/name_m], [name_m]Orion[/name_m], [name_m]Flynn[/name_m]

It comes as no shock to me that you’ve seen me talk about these names before, because I do, a lot.

[name_f][/name_f]

However, I think it’s interesting that you say that about [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], because that was one of the ones that I actually thought I was pronouncing correctly. How is it actually pronounced?

[name_m]No[/name_m] worries! [name_m]You[/name_m] can never talk about a name too much, that’s what nameberry is for [name_f][/name_f] And [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] is pronounced lass-lo traditionally! [name_m]The[/name_m] Z is silent.

I actually quite like that still, thank you so much for telling me about that.

Of course![name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Glad[/name_f] I could help!

I like the combos:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Roscoe[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Mercer[/name_m] [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Huxley[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Mercer[/name_m] [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]

Fwiw I don’t think any of these are particularly strange! [name_m]You[/name_m] have a varied and eclectic style but none of the names are that outlandish.

[name_f][/name_f]

As I’ve said on previous posts, I find [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m], and [name_f]Briony[/name_f] to be fantastic names but a little rhymey/matchy for a sibset perhaps. But that being said, let’s get into the middles.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] goes with all of your male middles imho, in fact there are some brilliant combos to be made here!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Roscoe[/name_m] (agree with others that this is fab)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Godric[/name_m] (love)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Huxley[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

I wouldn’t put [name_m]Mercer[/name_m] with an R- middle, somehow it seems to blur into the next word a little more than [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m]? but it works nicely with…

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Mercer[/name_m] [name_m]Godric[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Mercer[/name_m] Lazslo

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] goes spectacularly well with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] I think. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] works with both your girl names really well so it would be hard to choose where to use it! I’d probably separate [name_f]Briony[/name_f] from [name_f]Viola[/name_f] just because of the repeated ‘io’ (even though they are pronounced differently here, I don’t love visually the repeated letters with different sounds). I also think [name_f]Capri[/name_f] doesn’t flow that well because it repeats the -ee sound on both names. That leaves the options:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Verona[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Verona[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

I’d probably choose [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Verona[/name_f] (I kinda like the secret connection between [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] meaning ‘of Rome’ and [name_f]Verona[/name_f]. This may be a positive or a negative for you, I think I like it). If you chose [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Verona[/name_f], they would have a [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection (Viola from Twelfth [name_f]Night[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] and [name_f]Verona[/name_f] being the setting of [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]).

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!

I think they’re all lovely names! [name_f][/name_f] the only one I’m not sure I’d use is [name_m]Godric[/name_m], and I don’t love[name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Huxley[/name_m] myself, but I think the others are fab and are all on my own list! [name_f][/name_f] I especially love [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m], [name_f]Capri[/name_f], [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m], [name_f]Verona[/name_f], and [name_f]Viola[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

I think these would be fun:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Mercer[/name_m] [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Verona[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

I wanted to find a home for [name_f]Capri[/name_f] too but didn’t love that she rhymed with both [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Briony[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

Good luck!
