Now, some of these are on my personal list of favorites:
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
That being said, the rest I am either neutral about, or would never use:
[name_f]Indie[/name_f]: I can’t use this name without thinking of [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m], and his father’s infamous line, “we named the dog [name_u]Indiana[/name_u].”
[name_m]Oaklee[/name_m]: like the surf boards, like the sunglasses, like [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]? I couldn’t use this name, and when I hear it, I think of sunglasses.
[name_m]Rowyn[/name_m]: now, [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is on my list, and [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] is my preferred spelling. I know a lot of baristas, and have talked to them about names, and they all agree, if you pick an odd way of spelling a name, you’re just asking for everyone to get it wrong, and in the end, it just leads to frustration.
Lyanna: the sound is still too dated and country for me.
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]: it strikes me as a great last name for a villain in a comic book, I don’t know why.
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]: for me will always be followed by the pooh or [name_m]Cooper[/name_m].
[name_f]Malayah[/name_f]: sounds like jambalaya to me.
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]: sounds like the M was dropped in an attempt to be cute. I know it is an actual name, but, it just sounds like it’s missing something.
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]: some boy names can be used for girls, but in my opinion, not this one.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]: “And why is the carpet wet, [name_m]Todd[/name_m]?” “I don’t know, [name_f]Margo[/name_f]!” If you don’t know it, Google it.
[name_f]Legacy[/name_f]: like the mutant killing virus in X-Men? I’m sure it’s nice for some, but any true [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] fan couldn’t use it.
Everlie: like the brothers, but with an -ie to try to be cute and original?
[name_m]Harlyn[/name_m]: I love [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] for a boy, but I don’t like it for a girl, no matter how you spell it.
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]: I never even saw The Wizards of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] Place, and that’s what comes to mind.
[name_m]Palmer[/name_m]: forever a boy name, I’m sorry. There’s nothing pretty, feminine, or even chic about this name. And AMC fans will forever associate this name with cranky [name_m]Palmer[/name_m] Cortlandt.
[name_f]Arlette[/name_f]: I just don’t like the sound of it, I’m sorry.
[name_f]Arleth[/name_f]: see [name_f]Arlette[/name_f].
Amora: I like [name_f]Amara[/name_f], but not Amora.
[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f]: zee-oh-[name_f]MAR[/name_f]-ah, it’s OK, not my taste, and a spelling nightmare.
[name_f]Addalyn[/name_f]: I’m kind of tired of the [name_m]Add[/name_m]- names in general.
[name_u]Egypt[/name_u]: no, just, no.
[name_f]Whitley[/name_f]: again, no.
[name_f]Della[/name_f]: I’m neutral, it’s alright.
[name_f]Rosalee[/name_f]: not my favorite, but it’s nice.
[name_f]Maddie[/name_f]: please give your child a real name, not a nickname. They have to grow up with it, not you.
Rilynn: ugh, can we please stop with the frankin-names? You’re trying too hard!
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]: of all the occupational names you can use, you choose one with the natural nickname of Sail? Like Snail?
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]: “get back, [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]!” Beatles fans rejoice!
Shanaya: “man, I feel like a woman!” If you’re spelling it in an odd way to try to get away from [name_f]Shania[/name_f], it’s not working.
[name_f]Raya[/name_f]: neutral
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]: I actually love [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], but not [name_f]Aggie[/name_f].
Alora: again, sounds like you’re missing something.
[name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]: actually, her name was Jubilation [name_u]Lee[/name_u], right X-Men fans?
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]: I like this name, it’s not on my list, but I do like it.
[name_f]Roslyn[/name_f]: any other [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] and [name_m]Hobbes[/name_m] fans out there?
Raylynn: I don’t like frankin-names, and this one is a tad too CMA for me.
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]: again, too country sounding for my tastes.
[name_f]Maisy[/name_f]: have we used [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] too much, is it really time to change it unnecessarily?
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]: I like it, I don’t love it.
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]: I like this one, too. I wouldn’t use it, but I like it.
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]: [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is on my list, this one is nice, too.
[name_f]Selene[/name_f]: I don’t like it, [name_f]Selena[/name_f] is so over used, this would just get lost in the mix.
[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]: will forever be the brat from the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u], I’m sorry.
