[name]Do[/name] you think that Cygnet could make for a cute name, more so in the middle spot?
It’s a word for a young swan. It isn’t a name, but I think it has a name-like quality to it, given its similarities to [name]Sidney[/name] / [name]Sydney[/name] and [name]Signy[/name] / [name]Signe[/name] as well as all of the -et names that seem to be popular right now, such as [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. I like both the meaning and the sound of it.
[name]One[/name] negative that’s crossed me mind might be its possible similarity to the word ‘cigarette.’
I think it’s quite tame compared to some of the names I’ve heard recently. Would I personally use it? No! Bottom line I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it used nor would I think it ‘that’ far out there.
I wouldnt use it because it would be like naming your child [name]Doe[/name], Kitten or Foal, it’s hard to take seriously imo. It’s also an [name]Aston[/name] [name]Martin[/name] car and I think it would be confused with signet as in a signet ring, I dont see it being confused with cigarette though. Maybe you could find a name that means swan?
I like it for a middle name. It has a nice earthy, whimsical quality to it. People are naming their children [name]Bear[/name], [name]Fox[/name], [name]Wolf[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Lark[/name] etc. so why not?
I actually applaud your creativity! Especially for a middle name. To me, middle names are the place for creativity and more “out there” names, if you will. If your baby is bound for an academic life, you can be sure that most people around her will know what a cygnet is. I do enjoy [name]Sidney[/name] and [name]Signe[/name] myself, but Cygnet seems like one of the better dramatic word names I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing with us!
