What do you all think of the name [name_f]Cyra[/name_f]?
I’ve been told by nameberry that it can be pronounced Seer-ah or [name_m]Cy[/name_m]-ruh. I think I like Seer-ah better…though we have the name [name_m]Cy[/name_m]/[name_m]Sy[/name_m] on our list for boys right now and that might be too close.
I pronounce it [name_m]SY[/name_m]-ra, and I really like it.
It’s a wonderful name, but it’s not one I would consider if I had [name_m]Cy[/name_m]/[name_m]Sy[/name_m] in mind for a boy, even if I favored a different pronunciation.
I said it SEER-a, and I quite like this name! It’s weird though, because I don’t particularly like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] or [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] is nice!
The pronunciation Seer-uh sounds off but I have a close friend with a daughter named Cyrah [name_u]Rae[/name_u] (pronounced [name_m]Sy[/name_m]-ruh) so I’m biased. I love her name and I think it suits her perfectly. I do prefer the “[name_f]Cyra[/name_f]” spelling. The [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] I know is a tough, independent and visually stunning little golden-blonde haired toddler. I also haven’t encountered another [name_f]Cyra[/name_f]. As far as I know nobody has pronunciation trouble.
I really like the ‘[name_m]Sy[/name_m]’ sound for girls; thinking of naming my daughter [name_f]Cypress[/name_f]
I cant tell if the C sound is like a K or an S…for a K sound spell it [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] or Kyira (I think these are beautiful!!) I don’t like the Cee-ruh pn.
I would’ve said it Seer-ah at first glance, which is the pronunciation I prefer. Not a big fan of the name, though, personally. It immediately made me think of [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m].
