D-themed sibset?

I posted this in the siblings names thread, but thought it might get more action here.

[name]Ever[/name] since [name]Claudia[/name] Schiffer’s [name]Cosima[/name] was born I can’t stop thinking about the whole matching initial theme. I’m loving it!

So I already have a [name]Dashiell[/name] nn [name]Dash[/name]. One of my long favorites is [name]Dodge[/name] which I used to say was too matchy, but it’s a family name and I really love it. Other favorites of mine are [name]Dinah[/name] and [name]Dixie[/name]. And my husband loves [name]Dot[/name].

So how about:
[name]Dashiell[/name] nn [name]Dash[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name] sometimes nn [name]Dixie[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] nn [name]Dot[/name]/[name]Dolly[/name]
[name]Dodge[/name]

If there were more boys I would probably use [name]Desmond[/name] nn [name]Dez[/name]/[name]Dezi[/name], [name]Declan[/name] nn [name]Dex[/name] (because [name]Dexter[/name] doesn’t go with my last name), [name]Drake[/name] or [name]Dean[/name]. For girls I love [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], and [name]Delphine[/name].

So… what do you think? Good idea or bad?

[name]Hi[/name] there

I too dont know if its a good idea or bad to give siblings the same initial. I already have an [name]Oliver[/name] and within the next 5 days will have our second baby (sex unknown) if its a boy we love [name]Oscar[/name] but people think they are too close the only other name that we both like and isn’t already taken from friends or family is [name]Parker[/name].

I don’t know what to do!!

The key with a first inital theme is to have the names end in a different sound [name]IMO[/name] I love [name]Dashiell[/name] with [name]Dinah[/name] and [name]Desmond[/name] etc. Because they don’t end the same that would be too similar. To poster above for example I would go with [name]Parker[/name] for the same reason.

I think those names work together well because they only share the first sound and don’t have a lot of other sounds in common. I actually like when siblings share the first initial. My two kids both have names beginning with C (which I didn’t intentionally plan) and I’m going to continue that with my third child.

[name]Hi[/name] there! I also have a [name]Dashiell[/name] nn [name]Dash[/name]. I am not pregnant but am really loving the name [name]Delilah[/name] too. I have always been anti themes but now am really loving D’s too. I love [name]Drake[/name], [name]Dean[/name], [name]Desmond[/name]…
I personally love [name]Duncan[/name] a lot too. [name]Dexter[/name] is a fav. but like you, does not sound good with my last name. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] too. My husband really likes [name]Delilah[/name], so who knows?!

I love it, you better do it!!! :stuck_out_tongue:
