Dahlia, Dalia, or other D-names with middle name Eluned

I’ve recently fallen head over heels for the Welsh name [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] - the sound, meaning, and history are all perfect for our family. [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] is pronounced much like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], if [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ended in -ed. (The middle vowel is less like a “u”, more like an “i.”)

I’m more comfortable with it in the middle, though, so I’m trying to come up with a good first. D- names would be wonderful because they’d give us the potential nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f] and initials DEW.

I love [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Dalia[/name_f], but do they flow with [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]? I’m concerned the names may blur together a bit.

And, just as important, would it be too much flora with a sister named [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? [name_m]Both[/name_m] girls would have NNs that were totally unrelated to plants ([name_u]Romy[/name_u] and [name_f]Della[/name_f]), but even so.

Would choosing [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] help? I think I might like [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] a tiny bit better, but we don’t have the Jewish heritage to back it up.

Thanks! x

I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Della[/name_f]! It can be a great standalone name but would be a nice nn for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] or [name_f]Delyth[/name_f].

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]–it’s one of my favorite names–and I think [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] is gorgeous! I like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] better than [name_f]Dalia[/name_f]–the pronunciation seems more obvious to me, plus I love the flower connection. I don’t think it’s too much to have two floral-named daughters when their nicknames are decidedly nonfloral (though calling a [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Della[/name_f] seems a shame… not that [name_f]Della[/name_f]'s not nice; [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is just so beautiful!). Good luck!
