Dahlia to honor surname Doll

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]? My. Maiden name is [name_m]Doll[/name_m] and after me, there will be no more Dolls. [name_m]How[/name_m] can I honor my maiden name? [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] pronounced doll-ee-uh seems like a great option but some, like my mom(!!) say ‘day leeyuh’. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it?

I grew up knowing a [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and it’s pronounced exactly as you said, “doll-ee-uh.” I think it would be a fantastic way to honor your maiden name!

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]'s such a beautiful name!
I say dah-lee-ah, but I think that’s just my accent! It’s closer to doll-ee-ah than day-lee-ah anyway
Though I think the day-lee-ah pronunciation could still honor the surname [name_m]Doll[/name_m]

I say [name_u]DAY[/name_u]-lee-uh, I’m afraid (I’m a [name_u]Brit[/name_u], though).

I always thought Lalka (Polish for doll) would make a sweet name. Or how about [name_f]Dolores[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f] or [name_f]Dora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]?

I would use [name_m]Doll[/name_m] as a middle name or hyphenate surnames. I say “DAHL-ee-uh,” which doesn’t sound quite the same.

I say “DAHL-ee-uh”, too. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]/[name_f]Dolores[/name_f]! You could also use [name_f]Daria[/name_f] “[name_f]Dolly[/name_f]”.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, and I used to totally hate it for some reason.

I do pronounce it Dah-lee-ah, and feel that’s the perfect way to say it.

I would spell it [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] though.

My family’s [name_m]Rochester[/name_m] accent pronounce [name_m]Doll[/name_m] to rhyme with tall or ball more ‘dull’ which my husband kinda says close to. Dahl is how I would phonetically explain the pronunciation  thanks for the responses

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], nn [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] is on my girls list  I also totally adore [name_f]Dolores[/name_f], nn [name_f]Dolly[/name_f].
