Daine as a girl's name?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

So I have loved the name [name_m]Daine[/name_m] for a girl ever since I read [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]'s [name_m]Wild[/name_m] [name_u]Magic[/name_u] series when I was a teenager (and I read the series at least once every couple years). The full name of the character is Veralidaine (and always referred to as [name_m]Daine[/name_m]) but I don’t want to a child to have to try and spell that out five times a day.

I’ve never associated [name_m]Daine[/name_m] with a boy’s name.

I’d love to name my daughter [name_m]Daine[/name_m] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], which I think sounds really cute and feminine. I always liked slightly unusual and uncommon names.

Thoughts/opinions? Is it too out there?

I’ve never read the series but Veralidaine sounds very beautiful! [name_m]Daine[/name_m] is very cute nickname and I quite love it too. [name_m]Daine[/name_m] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] sounds wonderful! Though it may be misunderstood for [name_f]Diane[/name_f] on paper, I’m sure it won’t be hard to correct.
