I’ve been wondering if it’s too much of a stretch to have [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] for a nickname for [name_f]Marsali[/name_f]? Kind of how it’s a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]! Would love to hear your thoughts!
It doesn’t really make sense to me, sorry! I’ve never known a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] so I don’t think it’s very common nowadays, but even so, I’m guessing the reason why [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] could be a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is because [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] means “daisy”, which [name_f]Marsali[/name_f] doesn’t.
hypothetically, it doesn’t make a lot of sense… but i feel like people usually respect people’s nickname choices? i used to know a guy who went by aj. it had no relation whatsoever to his legal name, but everybody called him that!
that being said, i think daisy can stand alone too!

Maybe with something floral in the middle? Like Marsali Florence or Marsali Flora - or something to get the sounds - Marsali Adelaide, Marsali Daphne, Marsali Dana
Doesn’t really make sense to me, honestly. They don’t even share the same sounds. MAR-suh-lee vs. DAY-zee.
As a completely unrelated nickname sure but theres no connection
[name_u]Mars[/name_u] or [name_f]Sally[/name_f]? Im not 100% sure of Marsali’s pronunciation
It makes zero sense for me but I guess you can go by whatever you want. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is one of those nicknames like [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], [name_m]Chip[/name_m], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] etc that do not really have to have something to do with the actual name.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] because [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Margherita[/name_f] mean daisy in [name_u]French[/name_u], Italian… And those names are variants of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and you have to know that historically, people (esp the aristocracy and royalty) really had a thing for [name_u]France[/name_u] as a fashion …I am Italian, and margherita means daisy in my language, I get the logic even if it still feels a bit stretched. So it is not because of the actual sound.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] if [name_f]Marsali[/name_f] sounds similar to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] it does not mean daisy, so… It makes zero sense.

I don’t understand the connection between [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Marsali[/name_f], like other users have mentioned [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] works as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] because of the meaning which [name_f]Marsali[/name_f] doesn’t have.
You can use it if you like because I don’t really believe that nicknames have to have a connection to a given name but it doesn’t make sense as a nickname to me.
I find it very stretchy. I personally don’t think it works very well, but these are still two cute names!
