Looking for help with our third daughter’s name! Her sisters are [name]Mira[/name] and [name]Orli[/name], each named in memory of relatives. We’re open to advice on how to find a third name that “fits” with the others we’ve chosen. Last name is Littmann, so we’d prefer names that don’t start or end with the letter ‘l’. Thanks SO much for your help…baby is due in three short weeks and we still aren’t sure about names!
Oh they are both quite nice! Hmm.
[name]Nina[/name]:
Has 4 letters like your two other girls.
Is a great classic name.
is maybe a touch more familiar than [name]Mira[/name] or [name]Orli[/name]
[name]Dalia[/name]:
Shares the ‘li’ sequence with [name]Orli[/name]
rolls of the tongue into your last name like [name]Orli[/name] does
will probably get spelled [name]Dahlia[/name] a lot of the time
Tough call! I guess I’m leaning slightly toward [name]Nina[/name] with the considerations above, but there are a lot of ways you could take this!
Would you consider [name]Talia[/name]? That wouldn’t have (as much) the mild spelling issue of [name]Dalia[/name] - I think.
A few names I can see working - they are all drawn from Hebrew, I don’t think you have to by any means but it does kind of create a certain kind of unity:
[name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Nava[/name]
[name]Eliora[/name]
[name]Amit[/name]
[name]Haya[/name]/[name]Chaya[/name]
Idit
Irit
[name]Nirit[/name]
[name]Tamar[/name]
Good luck!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the pros and cons of both names! I love the name [name]Talia[/name], but our nephew is [name]Tal[/name]–another version of [name]Talia[/name]–and my husband is very opposed to using what is basically the same name. I agree on the spelling/pronunciation issues with [name]Dalia[/name]…I really like the Hebrew, as opposed to the botanical, meaning of the name, but it’s definitely not very familiar to most Americans.
This is a tough one! They’re both great! [name]Nina[/name] was almost my daughter’s name! [name]Dahlia[/name] was in the list too…we would’ve used nn [name]Dolly[/name].
When we were considering those names [name]Nina[/name] came out ahead cause of the [name]Black[/name] [name]DahliaH[/name] reference but without the Hit might not be a problem anyway.
