What do you think of the name Dalriada?
It’s actually the ancient name of a region of [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] (the Highlands, I think. Sorry, people of [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] if that’s not right).
A friend is preggers and she’s looking for a Celtic name that’s unusual, but is easy to spell, and is easy to pronounce.
So my question before I answer your question: how do you pronounce Dalriada?
I’m between thinking it’s dal-[name_m]RYE[/name_m]-uh-dah or dal-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-uh-dah, but I’ve never encountered it before.
I love it! Have you seen Lost Girl? In the show, the Dál Riata is a bar / sanctuary station for the [name_f]Fae[/name_f].
I like it. It’s definitely a standout.
It’s pronounced dal-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-a-da
I’ve never heard it used as a persons name before.
I’ve seen houses with the name though!
It does have a pretty sound and it’s spelt pretty phonetically so why not?

Thanks all for your contribution. I can tell my friend that so far the name seems to be getting favourable feedback.
Personally, I quite like Dalriada (dahl-[name_f]REE[/name_f]-ah-dah) as a name. Are there any nicknames that stand out to you for this as a name?
