Danae pronounciation?

How is the name pronounced and what imagery does it make you think of?

I say dah-NAH-ee. I actually don’t have an imagery about it, maybe because I never considered it before.

This is how we say it in Greece!
I think of a girl with thick, wavy blonde hair. Nymphs and smiles and lakes next to mediterannean forests. It has a bit of a playful and mythical image to me.

So it’s not [name_m]Dan[/name_m]-AY

I think it’s pretty, though difficult for [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers to pronounce. I think you’d get a lot of “da-nay” or “da-neye”. It reminds me of [name_f]Danae[/name_f] Stratou.

dah-NAH-ee.
I don’t have a clear picture of the name, cause I have met several Danaes who were each very different.

Duh-nay. Doesn’t call to mind any imagery but it’s very pretty.

I’d say duh-NAY. It’s not my style but I’ve never really thought about imagery.

I’d pronouce it duh-nay instinctively, but knowing that it’s Greek, I’d consider Duh-nah-ee.

I’d probably assume duh-nay in an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking country but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was dah-nah-ey or duh-neye or something else.

Danae is my SIL’s middle name, and her family pronounces it da-NAY. So that would definitely be my first thought

Sounds like how I tease my friend [name_u]Dani[/name_u] sometimes :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I went to school with a girl named [name_f]Danae[/name_f]. She pronounced it Duh-nay. I think its really pretty. Very unusual and sounds similar to [name_f]Renee[/name_f].

I pronounce it as duh-nay. I see a lot of dark green, leafy plants and [name_u]Green[/name_u] statues. Lots of [name_u]Green[/name_u] mythology imagery.
