Hey there!
Does [name]Dane[/name] for you have a similar feel as i.e. [name]Sloane[/name] or [name]Blair[/name] for a girl?
I never met a girl with this name, do you think it could work though?

No, sorry, it doesn’t. [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Blair[/name] feel streamlined, I don’t know how to explain it–it sort of reminds me of metal or silver, something rather cool but not really definitive for either gender, which is why I think so many people like [name]Blair[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] for girls. But with [name]Dane[/name], it feels warm to me, and masculine, due to its similarity to the traditional [name]Daniel[/name] and [name]Dane[/name] Cook.
No, it has a differnt feel to me. [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Blair[/name] have a kind of polished, preppy feel. [name]Dane[/name] feels like a casual, athletic guy. I know a male [name]Dane[/name], and of course the [name]Dane[/name] Cook connection and similarity to [name]Daniel[/name] are also factors.
No, I think [name]Dane[/name] is solidly masculine. If you’re looking for something similar to [name]Dane[/name] that’s more like [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Blair[/name], there’s always [name]Dana[/name]. I admit it’s not as surnamey or preppy, but at least it’s also a unisex name used primarily by girls.
I don’t think it feels similar to [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Blair[/name]. I think it feels similar to [name]Zane[/name], [name]Blane[/name], [name]Thane[/name]… it’s a boys name to me (I’ve met one ^_^)
My first association is with [name]Eric[/name] [name]Dane[/name]…then a Great [name]Dane[/name]. I don’t think it makes a good name for anyone particularly, but it’s one hundred times worse on a girl.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]DANE[/name] for a girl!!! I think it’s darling.
how about feminizing it by spelling it ‘[name]Daine[/name]’?
Misspelling something does not make it a girls’ name. [name]How[/name] about [name]Danae[/name] or [name]Danica[/name]? If you really wanted to, you could nickname her [name]Dane[/name].
All I think of is a Great [name]Dane[/name] dog. I think it’s pretty bad for a girl, and not much better for a boy.
[name]Danica[/name] would be much better.
[name]Dane[/name] is all boy. It would be awful on a girl.
[name]Love[/name] it for a girl! [name]Daine[/name] (short for Veralidaine which I don’t suggest for an actual child) Sarrasri is one of my very favorite literary characters (from several books by [name]Tamora[/name] [name]Pierce[/name]). I like the [name]Dane[/name] spelling too, though to me [name]Daine[/name] looks more feminine.
[name]DANE[/name] Is a fantastic girls name!----Dont let other people opinion of what sounds good on a boy or a girl—YOU obviously ike it or you wouldnt of put it out there—[name]DAINE[/name] is a GIRLS name if you give it to your baby GIRL—I love when new baby namers are trying to bring a whole new set of names to replace these old, stale, soooo overused childrens names–look at any school roster, sports roster, dance program----You’ll find the same names over and over again—BE BOLD___CHANGE IT UP—Thats what my daughter is doing too—[name]One[/name] [name]DAINE[/name]/[name]DANE[/name] at a time!—Go for what you love----[name]Dane[/name] is fabulous! (gramma ceecee said so…)
No, I think this one should stay with the boys.
Oh gosh, no. [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Blair[/name] aren’t attractive, either - [name]Dane[/name] reminds me of dogs, [name]Dane[/name] Cook and little boys.
[name]Diane[/name] would be beautiful.
What about [name]Lane[/name]? I think it’s much more feminine but has a similar sound.
It’s very masculine. And as others have said, there’s the Great [name]Dane[/name] link.
Thanks for all of your replies!
The story behind it is, that my name is [name]Dana[/name], I love boyish names on girls and would like to spend a few month in the UK or US next year. So I was wondering if I could go by [name]Dane[/name] there, since I’m not to fond of the English pronunciation of [name]Dana[/name] (also the slight confusion about the pronunciation). I never liked [name]Dana[/name] too much, so I thought I could take the chance and just go by a different name for some time and [name]Dane[/name] would just make the most sense (especially because it is boyish)
That’s why I was wondering whether it has the same cool / boyish charme I feel names like [name]Sloan[/name] and [name]Taylor[/name] have
I would reconsider it though, if for you it feels like a girl named [name]Maxwell[/name] or [name]James[/name]. That is just awful.
[name]Edit[/name]: [name]Just[/name] googled great dane, well that might be akward…
Oh well that kind of changes things! If you think it would be fun for you to try, then go for it! I don’t know where you’re from but I live in the U.S., and if I met an adult woman named [name]Dane[/name], I’d probably just assume it was popular where she was from
I think they have a similar feel, and I think [name]Dane[/name] could work for a girl. [name]Diane[/name] [name]Keaton[/name] has a daughter named [name]Dexter[/name] and a son named [name]Duke[/name]!
