Daphne Delphine - too much?

EDIT: Too similar, going with just Delphine

I really love the name Delphine, I love Daphne too but I like Delphine more, whereas my partner likes Daphne more.

A friend suggested we go with Daphne Delphine, Delphine as the middle name - but do you think the DD is too much? If it is too much, what middle name would you put with either Daphne or Delphine?

My only concern with just Delphine as the first name is that I feel like I can already see her spelling it out to a barista for a coffee order lol. Definitely not common in my country.

Other names we have are Margot, Violet, Flora, Thea - if that gives you any idea of the naming vibe.

I think it’s too hard to say and doesn’t look nice tbh. Sorry!

Too similar for me :sunny:

Honestly I don’t think it’s too much! I do find the two names together a little hard to pronounce, but I don’t mind the alliteration.

Are you open to using two middle names? It may seem like “a lot” but it could break up the two names – something like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (Surname)?

Of your names, I would suggest:
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

These are probably too similar to be in the same name.

I’d go for [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Personally I find them a little too similar but it isnt the worst combo I’ve ever come across either. I think if you both love it then use it, the MN would only be really used when wrote on forms so not something you’d or she would be shouting/saying every day anyways.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is sweet and floral, but it does feel a bit much for me - a bit too perfume-y for me?

I do like [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] best though and tbh, I have a super common name and sometimes people still mishear it :person_shrugging:

Some middles:

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Ruby[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]

no don’t be sorry! after reading the comments i agree, and it was a friend who suggested we combine the two i would have never thought to do them both together because it’s SO same same

Perfumey is a great way to describe how it sounds. It’s like I can see a celebrity in a commercial saying “Daphne [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], by chanel. Embrace the scent.” and I don’t mean that as a compliment to the name lol. It’s off the list, too rhymey same same.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] really need to decide between [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], they’re honestly neck and neck at this point for my favourite.

it’s definitely to similar

S for middles if you chose one over th either instead of keeping them together:

I love both [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], but for some reason they are sort of tricky to find middle names for.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
Daphné [name_f]Amélie[/name_f]
Daphné [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
Daphné [name_f]Francine[/name_f]
Daphné [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
Daphné [name_f]GeneviÚve[/name_f]

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] Élise
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Amélie[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] Ève

Too similar, but [name_f]Della[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Della[/name_f] would work.

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] :dolphin: is gorgeous! Both names sound very alike so I think if you’re the one carrying the child, growing them from a little cell to a whole baby, your partner should get on board lol. She could potentially use the nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f] when ordering coffee to avoid issues!

I personally would not use [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] as the not only share the same first letter but also they sound nearly identical.

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] for the win!!

Both names are gorgeous, but together it is a little tricky to pronounce them.
The other options on your list are beautiful, too. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] / [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] sound wonderful.
