Wanting to get some opinions on the name [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]. I realized the other day that I like it quite a lot, but I’m not sure what most people think of it? [name_m]How[/name_m] would it sound with siblings [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]?
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] on a boy because of Mr [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], but it feels too masculine for a girl. [name_u]Darcey[/name_u] seems more feminine to me. It’s fine with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_m]Nolan[/name_m].
With the name [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], I can’t help but be reminded of Mr. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] in [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]'s “Pride and Prejudice” ([name_m]Colin[/name_m] [name_f]Firth[/name_f], anyone? :)). It’s spunky and boyish and one of the few gender neutral names I don’t mind. It may be a bit too unisex next to the dainty [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but it’s not as jarring as other names would be (eg. [name_u]Madison[/name_u]). It does match well with [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]. I think it could work if you love it.
See I associate it with a little British girl I met so for me it seems very playful and feminine, as well as a character from a movie that was a female (can’t remember the movie-it was from my childhood).
I like it! It does remind me of Mr. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], but for me personally, the name is 100% girl. I’ve also met a female [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and read a few books with female [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] characters, so I can’t really imagine the name on a boy at all. I think it works well with your other names.
For me it’s an ok name but I feel it’s a bit boring. But in my opinion it would fit great with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_m]Nolan[/name_m].
I do think of Mr [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] (reading/ studying Pride and Prejudice atm :P), and I prefer it on a boy, but tbh it isn’t the most masculine name ever, and it would be okay on a girl.
