Darcy

Hey I was just wondering if you think of this more as a girl’s or boy’s name?

To me, more of a girls name but I can see it as both

Definitely boys.

I think of it more for a boy, but it can work for girls!

I kinda see it more as feminine because of the -cy ending (I associate it with names like [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]), BUT at the same time I associate it with MR. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] from Pride and Prejudice so it also feels easily male. I think if I were naming a boy though I would lean towards [name_u]Darby[/name_u] over [name_u]Darcy[/name_u].

I personally prefer it as a girls name but I wouldn’t be against it on a boy. I think it tends to be more popular for girls in the US and more popular for boys in Australia/NZ, but that could be wrong.

It’s v popular in [name_f]England[/name_f], it’s a lovely name☺️

Girl, I know 4 girls (one is spelled [name_u]Darcey[/name_u]) and no boys.

I love [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] on boys. It’s romantic, elegant and charming.

I see it as completely gender neutral, but I myself prefer it for a boy.

I grew up on [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] so I think of a boy.

It’s perfectly unisex to me! I love it on boys and girls!

Female, but the namesake is clearly male.

If you’re American, I would say [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is almost 100% girl, but if you’re in the U.K., I think it’s more unisex.

I think [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] definitely works for both genders, but I much prefer it on a male!

I think [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is very gender neutral, but I do prefer it on a boy.

I would love to view this as only a boy’s name, due to Pride and Prejudice, but I tend to imagine it on a little girl. Probably because it reminds me of the sound in [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

However, I would love to see more little boys being named [name_u]Darcy[/name_u].

My first thought is girl.

I’m in the US, and [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] feels 100% male to me. I’ve only known boy Darcys. I think the name is so handsome and sweet, I really love it on a boy! Not a fan of it on a girl personally, but I think [name_u]Darby[/name_u] is cute!

I’m in Australia and it’s mostly used on boys here. It’s a completely masculine name to me so I don’t particularly like it on girls.

One of the very few names I see as completely unisex.
