For a boy, I [name]LOVE[/name] the names [name]Keegan[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name] (pronounced [name]Reese[/name]). I also love the name [name]Morgan[/name] so much more for a boy than girl, but probably wouldn’t use it anyway- already have a little “M” name.
[name]Do[/name] you think little man [name]Keegan[/name] or [name]Rhys[/name] would have problems with their name? Being assumed a girl too often or just hating that they know little girl Keegans or Reeses?
(For some reason, [name]Keegan[/name] especially, I can see being the next [name]Morgan[/name] with the girl side…)
I have never heard of a girl named [name]Keegan[/name]. But I think [name]Rhys[/name] (spelled this way) is good for a boy. It’s like [name]Jamie[/name] vs [name]Jaime[/name] spelling for girls vs. boys.
[name]Morgan[/name] is definitely equally common for girls and boys. But I haven’t heard of [name]Keegan[/name] being taken over by girls at all! I also think [name]Rhys[/name] would be a handsome choice for a boy. The spelling (if not the pronunciation) will help make it clear that he is a boy; a classic boy middle name could help if you’d like to use a middle.
Also, among people my age, I know lots of Taylors, boys and girls. I have never known any of them to care that much about it being used rather frequently on someone of the other gender. Good luck!
[name]Both[/name] names are very masculine, and I personally don’t see anything feminine about them. [name]Reese[/name] is different and used mainly because of [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon, even though that’s not her actual first name.
To be honest I think parents are going to have to look beyond this “will people think he’s a girl?” question because of the fact people are using names like [name]James[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Aidan[/name] on girls when they are such common boy’s names.
I think that both names, especially if you stick to the [name]Rhys[/name] spelling with that one, are still great for boys! Like senoritashan said, unisex names are so common now that a boy sharing his name with a girl is less likely to face issues than when you were growing up (and it’s parents who hesitate to use them for boys that cause them to “go girly”).
I have personally known 3 girl Morgans and 2 boy Morgans. [name]One[/name] boy [name]Keegan[/name] and no one named [name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reese[/name]/[name]Reece[/name] except on tv.
I like [name]Keegan[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name]. I don’t think they are “too girly” or will considered “girl only” names in the future. Although, the spelling [name]Reese[/name] could be considered “girly”.
I would pick a classic or traditional MN. I would rather see a little [name]Keegan[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] or [name]Rhys[/name] [name]William[/name] than a [name]Keegan[/name] [name]Taylor[/name] or [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Jordan[/name].
In my mind, all of these names are simply unisex and totally usable on both genders! Maybe it’s a generational thing; I’ve grown up with Caseys, Sheas, Angels, Rorys, etc. of both genders; but I really don’t think there will be a problem even if he does encounter little girls with his name. [name]Just[/name] so you know, I know 3 girl Morgans and no boy Morgans, 1 boy [name]Keegan[/name] and 1 girl [name]Keegan[/name], and 2 girl Reeses and 1 boy [name]Rhys[/name]. I think for most people nowadays a unisex name is simply unisex and acceptable on both genders.
I don’t think [name]Keegan[/name] is very unisex at all! I actually know a [name]Keegan[/name] he’s around 16 and wears the name very well. [name]Rhys[/name] is being more unisex by the day, but the way you’re spelling it is very masculine. A male [name]Rhys[/name] probably wouldn’t hve any problems with having the name.
I knew a guy named [name]Morgan[/name] in highschool and he was actually pretty popular. He was very lanky and kindof awkward too and he did just fine with it :). I know you didnt mention this name but I also went to school with a guy named [name]Riley[/name] and he did just fine aswell [name]Rhys[/name] is a great name for a boy or a girl but I much prefer it on a boy. [name]Keegan[/name] is ALL boy I feel like if someone used it for a girl it wouldnt be terrible but itd definantly be a “girl with a boy name” case. Id go for it
[name]Keegan[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name] are still masculine to me, and i think they’re masculine enough in the mainstream to be totally usable however you want. [name]Don[/name]'t hold back!
I think all three names are fine on boys. [name]Keegan[/name] has been hanging between 200-300 for years on the SSA list in the US, and it’s never been on the list for girls. [name]Rhys[/name] is the masculine spelling of a name that is sometimes used on girls. I see no reason why anyone would turn down such a dashing name just because girls are also using it.
I’ve never heard of a female [name]Keegan[/name], and I hope I never do. That’s totally male to me.
[name]Reese[/name] only viewed as female, I think, because of [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon, and that’s not even her first name. It’s [name]Laura[/name].
[name]Rhys[/name] is 100% male, and I’ve never seen that spelling on girls. I knew a lovely male [name]Rhys[/name] a few years back, model looks and perfect gentlemen. I say use it! I have [name]Reese[/name] as a middle for one of my boy names.
[name]Morgan[/name] is 50/50, girl or boy. I know a precious 3 year old named [name]Morgana[/name] who’s called [name]Morgan[/name] most of the time, and I know a guy with [name]Morgan[/name] has his last name, plus there’s manly [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Freeman[/name]. So it fits total unisex to me.
