My husband and I were watching a show last night that mentioned [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] [name_m]Hammett[/name_m]. I’ve heard of the name but I’ve never really considered it before. I am really crushing on it right now and I think my husband likes it too but won’t admit it because he loves [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] for our son. I do love [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] and kind of think [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] is probably just a name crush, but [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] do sound really good together. I love the nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u]. Another reason I love it is because my husband’s name is [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], so it’s very similar looking but still has a distinct sound from [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. What do you think, [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u] or [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m]? Thanks!

I love [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_u]Dash[/name_u], and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] but adore [name_m]Bear[/name_m], so my vote goes to [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] “[name_m]Bear[/name_m]”.
Well, I adore the nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m], but I adore [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u], too! I like [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] more than [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], and [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and [name_u]Dash[/name_u] about equally. So I think I’d say [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], personally, but [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is so adorable! I would love to see [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] or [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], but I know how meaningful the mns you have picked out are, and wouldn’t want to try to dissuade you from them.
I love both, but [name_u]Dash[/name_u] wins out for me. They would make fantastic brothers.

Both are great! My cat is ‘[name_m]Bear[/name_m]’, so I’d definitely go with [name_u]Dash[/name_u] for a human baby.
I love both nicknames but prefer the full name [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]. It sounds great with your girls and is sooooo handsome!

Food for thought- our top choice is [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m] ([name_m]Arthur[/name_m] means [name_m]Bear[/name_m]) and I like that with your other kids names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing it out there!
Thank you all for your thoughts! I think [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] “[name_u]Dash[/name_u]” narrowly won out on the this thread, but I do think it’s probably just a name crush for me. [name_u]Dash[/name_u] and [name_m]Bear[/name_m] would be super cute as brothers, so I’m putting it on my list for later. [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] in full is nice but it seems like there would be pronunciation issues which is something I’m familiar with having two uniquely named daughters but it might be nice to avoid this time around. I think this baby is really growing into [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] “[name_m]Bear[/name_m]” but it’s just hard to be absolutely sure before we meet the little guy.
@timelessclassics - Thanks for the [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] suggestion! [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] was on my short list because of it’s meaning “bear”. I love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], unfortunately my husband is not a fan. I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] would be an great sibset for you though! I have two friends with a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but have always loved the longer form of [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] for a full name. Thanks again for your reply!
