[name_m]Even[/name_m] though we both love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], my partner suggested [name_u]Dash[/name_u] as a name for our baby due in Feb. It’s been on our short list for a while along with other one syllable names.
We don’t like the longer form of [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] so he would only be [name_u]Dash[/name_u]. Middle name would be [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] or [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
I have to say, I love the name [name_u]Dash[/name_u], although it could seem a bit unprofessional for an adult. I personally think [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] would make a better middle, since [name_u]Dash[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] seems a bit short. [name_u]Dash[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], while the same number of syllables, seems longer and more complete.
I like [name_u]Dash[/name_u], but I don’t like it with either of your middle name options. [name_u]Dash[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] sounds like an instruction, and [name_u]Dash[/name_u] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] sounds too short.
I actually quite like [name_u]Dash[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. I think it strikes the right balance between being unique yet fitting in with the general style of the times.
In today’s world of unusual names, [name_u]Dash[/name_u] would fit right in. I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] so would choose that over [name_u]Dash[/name_u], but [name_u]Dash[/name_u] could definitely work either on its own or as a nickname. [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] could get you the nickname [name_u]Dash[/name_u], if you live somewhere where [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] is used on boys as well as girls. [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] has a laid-back, outdoorsy, gentle feel to me, a little boy who could sit under a tree for hours watching ants, reading or building structures from sticks. I wouldn’t use [name_u]Dash[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] since I don’t like having two word names in one combo, but it makes me picture a very active and social boy who loves running around and playing sports, who makes friends with everyone quickly.
Stick with [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], I loved that combo when I read it in your post a couple of weeks ago! It’s such a cute name for a boy but with much more room to grow into as an adult than [name_u]Dash[/name_u], which I can’t imagine on an adult at all (and even on a boy it’s kind of cartoony, in my opinion).
