Could this work as a name? Please answer before reading comments below as they’ll likely point out something you can’t unsee and I’d like to know your first-thought opinion before being influenced by others.
For the record, I think what I like about this name are its similar sounds with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]. I’ll take any recommendations for names with similar sounds 
I just think of the reindeer 
. Maybe [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] could be an alternative?
I immediately thought of the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] song. To me it sounds more like a name for a pet than a person, sorry. I would suggest [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] or [name_u]Dexter[/name_u].
All I can think of is the reindeer.
I like Dasher nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u]. The reindeer association isn’t a bad one and it’s the most usable of those names. It’s also not immediately noticeable - I didn’t think of it right away. It fits in well with today’s style of names for boys like [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_u]Archer[/name_u] and [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m].
My first instinct without reading any other comments:
“On Dasher, on Dancer, on Donner and Blitzen!” (Not sure if that’s the right order 
)
It’s a reindeer to me, sorry. I do, however, love Dash as a potential short form, it’s just that I’d choose Dashiell to get there, or just use Dash on its own.

Casper, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] and [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] remind me of [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
Like many other posters, I associate it with the reindeer and would prefer [name_u]Dash[/name_u] or [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m].
Makes me think of the reindeer and also Door [name_u]Dash[/name_u]. The employee who delivers your food is called a Dasher.
I wouldn’t use it as a name. Much prefer [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
I wouldn’t use the name Dasher because of the reindeer association but I do understand the appeal of the name. As others have suggested, I’d use [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] or just [name_u]Dash[/name_u] as a fn!

I can’t see this name and not think of the reindeer. I would for sure go with [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m].
I actually really love Dasher nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u], it’s a big gp of mine. However, it does still make me think of the reindeer. I like the name [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] for that reason, similar sounds but not as connected to the reindeer!
I do wish it didnt have that association though, as I actually like Dasher more than [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]! you’ve already gotten some lovely suggestions, so I’ll just add in [name_m]Dipper[/name_m], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_m]Decker[/name_m], [name_u]Thayer[/name_u], [name_m]Topher[/name_m], [name_m]Thane[/name_m], and [name_m]Thackeray[/name_m]!

Not to worry folks. I actually thought of the name while offering up a word name for a fellow berry ([name_u]Comet[/name_u]) and just immediately liked the sound but assumed it was unusable. [name_m]Just[/name_m] held a glimmer of hope others might feel differently and put it on the table as a real option! [name_m]Alas[/name_m], it seems it’s not meant to be.
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] is not for me - is it sheel or she-el? Either way it’s just not doing it for me and I’m not a short name kinda person so [name_u]Dash[/name_u] is out as well 
I don’t think it works. I can only think of the reindeer.
