What do you think of [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] as brothers, with the potential nn’s [name_u]Dash[/name_u] and [name_f]Roe[/name_f]?
Also any comment on whether you prefer this pairing to [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Dash[/name_u] & [name_m]Link[/name_m]’?
I’ve never heard of [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] Coltrain…
And much prefer [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] as brothers over [name_u]Dash[/name_u] n [name_m]Link[/name_m] ( reminds me of sausage link lol )
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] is such a fun and strong name and I feel [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] pairs well and matches the fun and strong aura
I much prefer [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] ([name_u]Dash[/name_u] and [name_m]Linc[/name_m]). I agree with boyandgirl, I immediately picture [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] P Coletrain when I hear or see the name [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]. And then daisy dukes and two men that act like immature teenagers. Sorry.
I like both names! I think I like [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] slightly more than [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m].
I have no idea who [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] P Coletrain - so I googled him. Never would’ve thought.
Thanks for everyone’s replies! Seems pretty split at the moment.
I also have no idea who [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] P. [name_m]Coltrane[/name_m] is so don’t think it would factor greatly me.
Would love to hear any more opinions!
Another vote for [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]. If we always avoided names that happen to be characters, no one would ever name anyone, ever!
I agree with what you are saying…except in this case.
For me, the only “person” I have heard with the name [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] is [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] P. Coletrain. So the association is way too strong. On top of that he makes for a bad association. Unlike a name like [name_m]Johnny[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], or [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I have known/know/heard of others besides one certain individual. [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u], for me, falls under names like [name_f]Oprah[/name_f] and [name_m]Prince[/name_m].
I have never watched The Dukes of [name_m]Hazzard[/name_m], and indeed had never even heard of it until I floated the name [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] (an all-time favorite) on Nameberry. I’m a 26-year old [name_m]New[/name_m] Yorker, and I can pretty confidently guarantee that most people my age and in my region have never heard of the show or the character. I doubt it will have a renaissance anytime soon – or, indeed, ever.
[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] and [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] are names that I’ve always loved, especially for brothers. I get a Roaring 20s vibe from both of them. On little boys they’d be spunky, on young men handsome, and on grown men distinguished. [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], on the other hand, feels flimsy and trendy. Stick with [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u].
