In doing some digging into my family tree, I’ve come across some names that are pretty interesting.
One that I’m really intrigued by is [name_f]Jennie[/name_f]. She was my paternal great-grandmother, and one of my cousins is named [name_f]Jenny[/name_f].
Something about [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] (with the -ie spelling) makes it linger in my mind. While I’d normally say the name feels a bit dated, I’m wondering if [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] could be a cute name for a modern little girl. I’m specifically thinking of it with a spunky middle like [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] or [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] [name_u]Saige[/name_u] (just examples, but I’m open to suggestions!).
What are your thoughts? Is it useable and cute or dated and uninspired? Would it be better for a nickname? If so, what long names do you love where [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] could work as a nickname?
[name_f]Jennie[/name_f] is totally usable. I know one [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] and one [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] my age so it doesn’t feel all that dated. With that said though I can understand why some people may feel it is dated (because of the [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] boom in the 80s). Paired with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] or [name_u]Saige[/name_u], [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] does feel a little trendy but I think it’s fine cause it fits in with modern trends. I think [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] is perfectly okay on its own. I love [name_f]Janie[/name_f] but [name_f]Jane[/name_f] not so much so its not a big deal to me personally to have a nickname as a name.
Ooh, I haven’t thought about [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] in a while. I think it’s very cute and would be fine as a stand-alone (if [name_f]Molly[/name_f] can, why not [name_f]Jennie[/name_f]?).
Of course there’s [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], but here are some other ideas for which [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] could be a NN…
Usable, but dated. That said I don’t think a name being dated is the worst thing in the world, provided you love it enough to look past that fact. I like the idea of pairing it with a more modern / spunky middle name.
I use the [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] spelling- my name’s [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]- and I never really saw it as dated… [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is dated. I went to school with a couple [name_f]Jenna[/name_f]'s.
Totally usable. I find [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] quite appealing. And [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] too for that matter. It is rare to find a little [name_f]Jennie[/name_f].
