Davis? Davison?

Wondering what reactions there are to these two names. Are they good enough for first position, or better in the middle?

Would love to use [name]David[/name] to honor family, however, I get very mixed reactions to it, and also prefer to use variants of family names rather than the names themselves anyway.

Also top pick for a first son is [name]Joseph[/name] and while I kind of like how united [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]David[/name] sound, I then feel I’m really limited to Biblical names for any daughters. All assuming I have more than 2 kids anyway lol : D.

I don’t care for [name]Davies[/name] or [name]Dawson[/name] enough to consider them.

Thanks!

I know a few guys named [name]Davis[/name], so I think it works great in the first name spot. [name]Davison[/name] doesn’t appeal to me; I feel like a [name]Davison[/name] would be lost in a crowd of other -son names.

I do like [name]Davis[/name] for a boy although I much prefer it as a MN… for some reason the “vis” part makes it too edgy for me if that makes any sense. I agree with @agirlinred that [name]Davison[/name] is too surnamey for a FN, imo.

I think [name]Dennison[/name] would work better than [name]Davison[/name].

[name]Davis[/name] is fine.

Thanks all!
