I heard this name in a movie today and I’m wavering on whether I like it or not. It sounds fresher than [name_m]David[/name_m] and I like that it’s familiar but not overused. At the same time I wonder if it’s too old sounding since it rhymes with [name_f]Avis[/name_f] and [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]. Also do you think it would automatically getting shortened to [name_m]Dave[/name_m] or [name_m]Davey[/name_m]? Honest opinions welcomed and appreciated as always!
I hear [name_m]Davis[/name_m] quite a bit here in the deep south, so it doesn’t seem odd to me at all. It isn’t exactly my style, but I like it.
I actually do like it! I agree that it’s fresher and I don’t think it’s too “old” sounding. (Besides, “old” is back in style now, anyway.) BUT I also agree that it’s probably going to get chopped by the time he hits elementary school. Middle school at least.
I went to school with a [name_m]Davis[/name_m]. It never seemed like an ‘old’ name and it was never shortened to [name_m]Dave[/name_m] ect. It is a great name.
Nah, I much prefer [name_m]David[/name_m].
I like it. I remember a [name_m]Davis[/name_m] on the Real World and liked it then.
I hear it often usually as a sn but I do prefer [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Davis[/name_m] seems well like a solid last name for me. But there is no reason it can’t be used as a fn [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
I actually like [name_m]Davis[/name_m] a bit more than [name_m]David[/name_m]. It will get shortened tho…any name that can be shorted to [name_m]Dave[/name_m], [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_m]Mike[/name_m], or [name_u]Nick[/name_u]…will be.
I love it as a fresh alternative to [name_m]David[/name_m]. I actually think [name_m]Davie[/name_m] is a sweet nn.
