I am very much drawn to D names at the moment. May I ask, what are your favourite names beginning with D, or with prominent D sounds?
Also, if anyone knows any D names not often heard here on the forums, I’d love to see them!
[name_f]My[/name_f] dad’s name is [name_u]David[/name_u], so I love the idea of a ‘D’ name to honor him. I’m always on the search! [name_f]My[/name_f] current favorites are…
Girls-
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
I also kind of like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], but not nearly as much as [name_f]Delia[/name_f]. And as for names with ‘d’ sounds, I’m loving…
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
I also really like [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] & [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
Boys-
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
I also really like [name_u]Declan[/name_u], but that’s my nephew’s name. [name_m]Diego[/name_m] is also lovely.
As for boys with prominent ‘d’ sounds, I kind of like…
my favourite d names are [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] & [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_u]Declan[/name_u] & [name_m]Dacre[/name_m], but two i love that i don’t see a tremendous amount here are [name_f]Decima[/name_f] and [name_m]Dacken[/name_m]!
my favourite names with a prominent d sound are probably [name_f]Judith[/name_f] and [name_u]Rudy[/name_u]
I’ve just realized I don’t have many D names on my list. I like [name_f]Demetria[/name_f] for girls, [name_m]Dovber[/name_m] / [name_m]Dover[/name_m], Dúnn, [name_m]Doron[/name_m] and [name_m]Daedalus[/name_m] for boys.
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_m]Damian[/name_m]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (my most favorite name at the moment)
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Daria[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite D names are [name_f]Daria[/name_f], [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_m]Dante[/name_m], [name_m]Darius[/name_m], [name_f]Daylily[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_u]Daniel[/name_u], and [name_u]David[/name_u].
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] are some of my favorites that don’t start with D but have D’s in them.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite D name that I feel gets no appreciation on Nameberry is [name_f]Deanna[/name_f]! I think it’s so beautiful and fits any personality. I’m also really drawn to D__na names in general – [name_f]Deanna[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Deena[/name_f], and [name_f]Dawna[/name_f] come to mind.
I won’t list every other D name on my long list since a lot of them have already been mentioned. But a few more that I like that I haven’t seen listed:
[name_u]Dallas[/name_u] (for any gender!)
[name_f]Delancey[/name_f]
[name_u]Denver[/name_u] (also for any gender)
[name_f]Deborah[/name_f]
[name_f]Deirdre[/name_f]
[name_u]Darragh[/name_u]
[name_m]Dewey[/name_m]
[name_f]Darla[/name_f]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u] / [name_u]Dillon[/name_u] (surprised this wasn’t mentioned yet!)
[name_m]Darrow[/name_m]
[name_m]Dawsey[/name_m]
[name_f]Dovie[/name_f]
@GeographyDragon I love [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. I have colour hearing/grapheme synaesthesia and D is a dark colour to me, so the imagery in my mind for the name [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is something like this:
@MichelleM [name_f]Delia[/name_f] is sumptuous! [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is a rich dark purple to me mostly for the above reasons! I’m not sure where the purple comes in! @daisymeadows I’m a big fan of [name_m]Dacre[/name_m]! At first it sounded too gothic to me, but I love the meaning and I’ve come to love the sound of it too. [name_m]Dacken[/name_m] is new to me, thank you so much! I feel the same was as I did about [name_m]Dacre[/name_m] - I’m instantly drawn to it, but it sounds a bit dracula or something Another name i had to warm up to for the same odd reason is [name_f]Dagney[/name_f], which I now absolutely love.
It’s quite an unusual/unpopular starting letter isn’t it? How is Dúnn pronounced please? @Greyblue [name_u]Damaris[/name_u] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is probably my favourite name with a prominent D within, closely followed by [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]. @mololy yes sadly, [name_f]Dorcas[/name_f] is probably never coming back! I also love [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
