Going a little crazy. Did anyone else change their mind on the baby’s name weeks before birth? [name_u]Or[/name_u] went to the hospital with a few options? I feel like a bad berry for not being 100% sure. The pressure is real to name an actual human!
We were pretty firm on either [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]. (I even ordered stickers on Etsy, so basically the same as a birth certificate!).
However, we’ve gone back to a previous name we’ve talked about for a few years and had vetoed because of its length with our long last name. But there’s something about it we just can’t seem to stay away from, along with its nickname potential! drumroll…
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f], nickname [name_u]Penny[/name_u] or [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. Middle name will likely stay [name_u]James[/name_u] (family name) so could also be PJ. [name_u]Penny[/name_u] also has significance to me.
i think we all know it’s Penelope for you guys haha. i mean a long first name and a long last name shouldn’t be a deal breaker if you truly love it! and Penelope James is beautiful! love the nn PJ! it has a special place in my heart cause of Good Luck Charlie :))
I don’t know your history with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] but FWIW I love it, especially with [name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], and PJ available to you!
Anouk was going to be Ramona Tuesday up until 7/8 ish months then I just got really cold feet on it. I still think it’s a fabulous name but it’s definitely not her name, and I think I’d have really regretted not using Anouk. It had been a favourite for a lot longer and has more meaning/connections for us as well.
Is that Penelope for you? I have to say I still adore Sylvie for a December babe, and Lucy has the December connection too and is bright and sweet, but Penelope is very pretty too and the length doesn’t feel too noticeable to me because it’s such a light, bright classic. Totally in love with Nell for short as well, one of my favourites
I think all of your options sounds great with your last name, Penelope included. Are you able to wait until you meet her to decide or do you need/want to have the name fully decided before birth?
What about [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] instead of [name_u]James[/name_u]? She might feel embarrassed having a boys name for her middle name when she’s older.
Nope, it’s 2021 there are tons of girls with traditionally ‘boys’ names! Especially in the middle spot, I don’t think it’s an issue. But thank you for your concern
Can’t speak for myself, but my mum had been dead set on Eleanor for her whole pregnancy and changed her mind right at the last minute! I think it’s totally normal for such a huge decision
Penelope James is so gorgeous and I am a bit obsessed with the PJ initials!! Beautiful choice- though you cant go wrong with any of your ideas!!
Personally I’m going to the hospital with three names and picking the one that feels best when babe is born. No shame in not being sure just yet! Go with your heart. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is darling.
I know this trend exists, I was only saying that because, whether it’s popular right now or not, it still may end up being embarrassing and awkward in the future.
So I was still a little bit unsure on [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] (my daughter) name up until her birth my second option was [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in the first name slot. I did love [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f] she was always on my mind but I did have some wobbles before and after her birth.
Anyways I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] such a gorgeous name really elegant and spunky. I like the idea of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] for a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] baby just because [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] feels a bit Christmassy to me but [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is stunning and from what I’m gathering is your name.
If I was you I would take a couple of options to the hospital and see what one fits for your little one.
