[name_m]Hi[/name_m] fellow berries! I am expecting baby number 2 (a boy) in [name_u]December[/name_u]. I have a daughter named [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I want a strong, timeless name for him, and my top choices tend to be biblical. I generally like names that are less common but are familiar. [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] has always at the top of my boy list, but I think now it is prohibitively popular. I also am not a fan of nicknames (I don’t mind short names, but would rather give him the name I intend to call him - so far, [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is always Evangeline). [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] are at the top of my list right now. Because he’ll be born in [name_u]December[/name_u], [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] keeps coming to my mind. What do you think of this name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know anyone with it? Does it always turn into “Manny”? Is it to “matchy” with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other suggestions? Thank you for your help!
I love [name_u]Asa[/name_u]! Some other ideas…

I love [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and I’ve never met anyone called [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] so it’s unique to me, maybe that’s just because of where I live.i don’t know any Emmanuell’s either but honestly I’d guess people will shorten it to Manny.Whay about Abel, that’s a biblical name, seems to suit your style. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
I do feel like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] are very close, but if you absolutely love it, you should use it!
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_u]William[/name_u]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] + [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] is a wonderful choice! I’ve always seen [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] given in the middle spot. It seems a bit of a mouthful to be used as a first. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] sounds great!
I love [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] but feel it has a high potential to be shortened to [name_m]Manny[/name_m] and may be a bit matchy with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. Not enough to completely disregard it if you’re in love with it though!
I second [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] suggested above, and will add:
[name_u]Eli[/name_u]
[name_u]Elijah[/name_u]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
Congratulations! I love the name [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] - it’s such a warm, distinguished, underused classic and definitely gives me Christmassy vibes. It does feel quite similar to [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] in that it’s long, stately, festive and starts with E, but the sounds aren’t too close and I think they work well together.
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] or [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] would both be gorgeous choices for a [name_u]December[/name_u] baby! One I haven’t seen suggested yet which I think fits your style is [name_u]Amos[/name_u], or maybe even [name_m]Amias[/name_m] or [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m].
I like Emmanuel but I do think it would likely turn into Manny or other nn’s and it also feels very cloe to Evangeline
I love Asa from the names you mentioned
I also really like Noel, Abel, Theodoro, Gabriel, Ambrose (my fav)
Emmunuel is very handsome! Elegant and cool and works well with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]! He might get called [name_m]Manny[/name_m] though if he decides he likes it
I really love [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and Silas!!
Some other ideas
[name_m]Abram[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Ira[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
What about [name_u]Noel[/name_u]? I think [name_u]Christian[/name_u] would work well. [name_m]Deacon[/name_m] and [name_u]Levi[/name_u] too.
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m], although not my favourites, are both solid options for Evangeline’s brother. [name_u]Asa[/name_u] has been growing on me of late, actually. Have you considered [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]? It feels similar to [name_m]Silas[/name_m] to me but I prefer it, I think because [name_m]Silas[/name_m] sometimes evokes the word ‘asylum’ for me, but that’s quite random I suppose
I much prefer [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] to [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], which is too matchy with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] in my opinion and lends itself pretty intuitively to the nickname [name_m]Manny[/name_m].
How about [name_u]Asa[/name_u] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m]? I think this [name_f]Maura[/name_f] a lovely a lovely combo.

I also have a daughter Evangeline!!
[name_f]My[/name_f] other sons for reference are [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]!
Hmmm if you’re thinking along the lines of biblical and Christmasy:
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Simeon[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
I do see [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] easily defaulting to [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] but unsure of an obvious default for the others.
[name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] would be my choice! It’s timeless and goes with your daughter’s name. I don’t think a nickname is necessary for it either
I’ve known 2 Emmanuels throughout the years, one of them went by Em/Emmy, and the other one was usually [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], but his close family called him [name_m]Manu[/name_m]. I think that most of the time if you set the precedent of a kid only going by their full name while they’re young, you can mostly avoid nicknames you don’t like. However, there’s always a chance that little [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] will grow up and decide he wants to be called [name_m]Manny[/name_m]. If that’s something that would bother you, then maybe consider a different name. If not, I think [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] is a very handsome choice, and is perfect with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]!
I love [name_u]Asa[/name_u]. Also, you might look into Erez (cedar) or [name_m]Oren[/name_m] (pine).
