We are due in 5 weeks with our second boy. My firsts name is [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Michael[/name] and I am 99% sure his brother will be [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name]…nickname [name]Finn[/name]. I am one of those that once I commit to a name I begin to waver so please help me with your opinions…is this a good name? A good match with [name]Wyatt[/name]? Thanks for your help!!
[name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] works very well with [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Michael[/name] and [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] make a great sibset!
I really like the name [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] and I think [name]Griffin[/name] goes really well with [name]Wyatt[/name]. My one question is how you came up with [name]Wilder[/name] for a mn. [name]Wyatt[/name] has a very classic and traditional middle name, but [name]Wilder[/name] is a completely different style. If it is a family name or has other meaning for you, then I think it’s a good choice. If not, then I would personally choose a more classic middle name for [name]Griffin[/name] to make a more cohesive sibset with [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. [name]Griffin[/name] [name]James[/name] came to mind immediately.
However… this is me being very very picky lol! [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] with the nn [name]Finn[/name] is a good name in its own right -the fn & mn sound and flow well together.
Thanks for your thoughts! [name]Wyatt[/name]'s middle name [name]Michael[/name] is his dads name. [name]Wilder[/name] is just a guilty pleasure for me that I thought would help with the preppy vibe I get from [name]Griffin[/name]. Unfortunately, there are really not any family names that we want to use…so went with something fun instead!
[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Wyatt[/name] by the way. If DD1 was a girl, she should have been [name]Wyatt[/name]. Anyhow, I think [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] in particular goes really well with [name]Wyatt[/name]. Personally I think mn are nice and should flow, but I don’t get overly concerned/fussed about them. Almost no one ever uses them in a real way other than on birth announcements and wedding invitations.
I also noted like the pp that [name]Michael[/name] is a real classic (dare I say, vanilla name) compared to the “wilder” [name]Wilder[/name]. However, it totally makes sense given that [name]Michael[/name] was after your DH. If [name]Wilder[/name] is a guilty pleasure and it is a cool name, but I would never use as fn, then I say use it in the mn position as you are. Also, I think [name]Wyatt[/name] is a little bit edgier than [name]Griffin[/name]. I think wild west and [name]Griffin[/name] does have a preppy, but still Western vibe. So I think a wilder middle name for [name]Griffin[/name] makes sense while a more subdued mn for [name]Wyatt[/name] makes sense.
I say go for it!

I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Wyatt[/name]!
I think [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] both sound nice, but if you want to call him [name]Finn[/name], why not just name him that? I feel like it’s a bit of a stretch for a nickname, like my friend’s son [name]Dakota[/name] who goes by [name]Cody[/name]. Granted, it probably makes more sense than say, [name]Polly[/name] for [name]Margaret[/name], but it may be a source of confusion.
He very well may go by [name]Griffin[/name] not [name]Finn[/name] or I can even see people calling him [name]Griff[/name], with nicknames they often aren’t what you choose…I love the name [name]Finn[/name] but want a name that is a little more substantial when he is older hence the name [name]Griffin[/name].
I think it’s great. [name]Both[/name] unexpected but not odd choices, and [name]Wilder[/name] isn’t necessarily an adjective. It’s a respected surname too, a la [name]Gene[/name] [name]Wilder[/name]. Pairs quite well with brother [name]Wyatt[/name].
I like the combination but if you’re sure you want [name]Finn[/name], have you thought about fun little [name]Finlay[/name] / [name]Finley[/name] as a full name? I think [name]Finlay[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] flows even better than [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name], and you would absolutely get your preferred nickname.
Thanks for your thoughts unexpected but not odd is kind of what I am going for. [name]Wilder[/name] also reminds me of [name]Little[/name] House on the [name]Prairie[/name] which I love too…I like [name]Finlay[/name] or [name]Finley[/name] but they are a little on the “girly” side for me?
I love it! I would love to know little brothers names [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Griffin[/name].
I know what you’re worried about, since “ley” rhymes with “lee,” and every other little girl these days has a name ending with “lee.” I think spelling it the traditional way, with the -[name]LAY[/name] ending, would do a lot to convey the masculine nature of the name. I really, really think [name]Finlay[/name] is all-boy.
There are other ‘[name]Fin[/name]’ names too-- some might be a bit out there for you, but just in case:
Old Irish names:
[name]Finbar[/name]
[name]Finian[/name]
[name]Finnegan[/name]
[name]Fingal[/name]
Greek:
[name]Phineas[/name]
FWIW, I really like [name]Finlay[/name] [name]Wilder[/name]. Sounds like a cool kid. ([name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] is great too, don’t get me wrong!)
I like [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Griffin[/name] as brothers…[name]Wilder[/name] is nms but to each their own.
I love this name, and I think it sounds really nice with [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. They just flow really well when you say them together. [name]Finn[/name] is a cute nn, too. I also like the repeated Ws, since one is in the mn spot.
I wouldn’t change it! It’s a good commitment, in my opinion.
I think [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] is a great name and goes will with [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Michael[/name].
I’d consider spelling [name]Finn[/name] with one n as it’s a nn and [name]Griffin[/name] only has one n.
I give your choice a gold star!
My first thought was that [name]Griffin[/name] should have a mainstream middle like his brother, but I do like the way [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Wilder[/name] form a link stylistically and aurally.
This exactly
[name]Griffin[/name] is abreally nice name…it goes with [name]Wyatt[/name] quite nicely .,
I like [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Griffin[/name], together. I also like a pp suggestion of: [name]Griffin[/name] [name]James[/name].
