Deciding between Camille, Catherine, Greta; any suggestions appreciated

[name]Hi[/name] all,

I have a 2 yr old little lady named [name]Caroline[/name] and she is about to get a new baby sister. We are struggling to choose a name for our wee one.

So far, we like these first names (proposed middle names)

[name]Camille[/name] ([name]Grace[/name])
[name]Catherine[/name] ([name]Claire[/name]) are there too many [name]Cate[/name]'s and [name]Catie[/name]'s on the planet?
[name]Greta[/name] ([name]Mae[/name], [name]Grace[/name]) does it pretty or harsh?
[name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Grace[/name]) Almost too popular now.
[name]Ivy[/name] ([name]Claire[/name], [name]Grace[/name]) I think my family would hate this name. Thoughts?

[name]Grace[/name] is pretty much set for the middle name as it is my husband’s grandmother’s name.

I would really appreciate thoughts and suggestions, even ones not on our list. Thanks!

I like [name]Greta[/name], but not with [name]Grace[/name] as a middle name. I do like [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] though

[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be cute! Not sure why the family would hate it, it’s a lovely name. Otherwise, the only name on your list that I don’t “feel” is [name]Greta[/name]. [name]Marguerite[/name] nn [name]Greta[/name] maybe?

I love [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name]! I don’t particularly love the alliteration of [name]Camille[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], or [name]Charlotte[/name] (although otherwise, I adore [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]!), but I wouldn’t go for [name]Charlotte[/name] anyway, since both [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are both feminine forms of [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Carl[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Greta[/name] is nice, but feels slightly mismatched. [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name], though, is utter perfection! I love it. It honestly seems the least likely out of all your options, but I really think it’s the best one, it’s lovely.

Good luck!

I think [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Camille[/name] sound more sophisticated thus they go together well. [name]Greta[/name] on the other hand sounds more spunky. I really like all of these names though.

[name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name], though they sound lovely together, have pretty much the same meaning and origin, since both are feminizations of [name]Carl[/name]. They are variants of the same name, so I just think it would be weird to have them in a sibset.

However, I love [name]Caroline[/name] & [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] & [name]Greta[/name] (though i second nikkilouise’s suggestion of [name]Marguerite[/name] nn [name]Greta[/name])

By the way, I’m curious about how do you call your little [name]Caroline[/name] =)

I really like [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is also nice, but a bit too popular now.

You seem like you love C names! Most of us do have an affinity like that (mine is with A names), and normally I’d suggest being careful of preventing a tongue-twisting sibset but I think [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Camille[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] sound great together. [name]Charlotte[/name] is also gorgeous, but it is a little reminiscent of [name]Caroline[/name].

With [name]Grace[/name] as the middle name I think I’d pick [name]Catherine[/name] over [name]Camille[/name], even though I like [name]Camille[/name] better.

What is there to hate about ivy? I love it! I also love [name]Greta[/name], but agree that it feels mismatched with [name]Caroline[/name].

[name]Camille[/name] is my favorite to go with [name]Caroline[/name].

I like your choices. I actually like [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name], because although they both start with C, they have different sounds. Sh vs. C.
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is also adorable. Also, what about [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Isabelle[/name]? [name]Both[/name] go well with [name]Caroline[/name] and the middle name [name]Grace[/name], but the only downside is popularity.

We actually just call her [name]Caroline[/name]. No one has come up with a nn yet for her, which is ok with me. Thanks for your suggestions!

Family gets used to names and loves the child no matter what. [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be my choice.

I think that [name]Camille[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] sounds absolutely stunning together. They work well as a sibset without being too similar to each other.

My second favourite from your list is [name]Greta[/name].

I love [name]Catherine[/name]. There aren’t a lot of [name]Cate[/name]'s but there are a lot of [name]Kate[/name]'s, [name]Katie[/name]'s, etc. another nickname could be [name]Wren[/name]. I think [name]Caroline[/name] & [name]Catherine[/name] are lovely siblings. Have you thought about [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Grace[/name]? It’s a lovely combo.

[name]Greta[/name] [name]Claire[/name] would be my first pick, followed by [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name].

[name]Camille[/name] is my top pick! Second pick is [name]Greta[/name] [name]Mae[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Camille[/name]. I think it’s the best of your lot. However, I notice Americans pronounce it “cam-EEL” instead of the traditional pron. cam-ILL. So, if it would be a lifetime of corrections, then perhaps [name]Greta[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. (I love alliteration)

[name]Caroline[/name] is darling!

I like [name]Camille[/name], it seems exotic though, and not a good match with classic [name]Caroline[/name].
[name]Catherine[/name] is great! I think everyone likes it. Yes, there are a lot of Kates and Katies, but it still a nice, solid classic. It goes well with [name]Caroline[/name].
[name]Greta[/name] is a nice name, but also too exotic with [name]Caroline[/name].
[name]Charlotte[/name] is also a nice, strong classic, but I bet there are thousands of [name]Charlotte[/name] Graces! I do like the name, but I would go with [name]Catherine[/name] over [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Catherine[/name] is the least popular and not in the top 100. Oh, and the feminization of Carl thing…
[name]Ivy[/name] isn’t one that I like a lot, but I think [name]Caroline[/name] and little sister [name]Ivy[/name] would be really cute. Another classic, but not super popular name would be your best choice. For this reason, I pick [name]Ivy[/name].

I love [name]Camille[/name], [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] but would pick [name]Camille[/name] since it’s the most unique and distinctive. Stylistically they all match with [name]Caroline[/name] (French names that have become English classics). But I agree with PPs they might be a bit close to [name]Caroline[/name]- about the same number of letters, the C beginning and E ending.
