Declan for a girl?

I have only been seeing the name [name]Declan[/name] used for boys, but would it be too weird on a girl?

Yes it would be weird on a girl for the reason you just gave, it’s a common boys name.

Quite frankly, I think [name]Declan[/name] is ugly on a girl. There is nothing remotely feminine about it. I’m not such a fan of it for a boy either.

I have to agree with southern.maple… there’s just nothing attractive about [name]Declan[/name], boy or girl.

With that said, I can see it becoming a trendy girl’s name, particularly if it’s spelled [name]Declyn[/name].

I think [name]Declan[/name] would work on a girl just fine. I have heard of girls being called [name]Daryl[/name] and [name]Devin[/name] so I don’t see why [name]Declan[/name] wouldn’t work. People get very defensive of male names but I personally think using a male or masculine name on a girl is nothing new & just another style of naming. There are plenty of women out there named [name]Kyle[/name] & [name]Spencer[/name] & [name]Ryan[/name] and I don’t think it makes those names less appealing on a boy. If I met a little girl named [name]Declan[/name] I’d think it was cute and I’d probably say so. Good luck

Thanks [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Berry[/name]!

No, I like it on a girl!

Ugh, it’d be an awful choice on a girl.

I agree. I’m probably biased as [name]Declan[/name]‘s on my boys’ list, but I just can’t see the appeal on a girl at all.

Only if you’re going to name her brother [name]Molly[/name].

Actually, I could see this being the yooneek trendee hit: Deklynn would fit right in with Rylynn and [name]Brooklynn[/name]!

Nope. It’s on the top of my girl’s name list too. Except I like it spelled Decklyn.

No. I think it’s an extremely bad choice for a girl.

Yuck. Nn for [name]Declan[/name] is Deco. [name]Love[/name] it for a boy, no way should it be for a girl

I think [name]Declan[/name] on a girl is fine cause it’s surnamey. I might not name her brother [name]Molly[/name] but why not [name]Paige[/name] or [name]Payton[/name]? Iconsider this kind of name unisex.

Personally I prefer Decca which I really like & never hear.
