We are getting down to it… [name]Owen[/name] has been at the top of the list but the name [name]Declan[/name] has been coming up. I’m hoping you can help us choose. His sibling is big sister, [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and his middle name will be [name]Christopher[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Declan[/name] is too trendy?
[name]Don[/name]'t know if I like [name]Declan[/name] or [name]Owen[/name] best. They are both fine names. I prefer [name]Declan[/name] with [name]Ava[/name] though.
I like [name]Owen[/name] better with [name]Ava[/name]. I think it’s because I thought [name]Declan[/name] was [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon’s son’s name (she being a fairly high profile celebrity-[name]Ava[/name]-mom) but it’s actually [name]Deacon[/name]. Still think I prefer [name]Owen[/name] though.
Those are both solid name choices. I wouldn’t call either of them ‘trendy’, though they certainly both have been rising in popularity. I think I prefer [name]Declan[/name], but not by a ton. [name]Ewan[/name]/[name]Euan[/name] is a cool variation that I prefer to [name]Owen[/name].
I like [name]Declan[/name]. Well, honestly, I love both [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Owen[/name], but I like [name]Declan[/name] more. And [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Declan[/name] are lovely together. I love that it means “full of goodness”! And I like [name]Declan[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] as a combo more than [name]Owen[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], personally.
I love both. I do see [name]Declan[/name] as becoming slightly trendy only because it is less common, and everyone wants to be different! But I don’t think it’s there yet. To tell the truth, when I first came across the name [name]Declan[/name] years ago I thought it was awful and I didnt understand that sound and that spelling being attractive as a name. It’s hard for me to imagine that now as I have since fallen in love with it… maybe not love, but intrigue. I do think [name]Owen[/name] is nicer sounding and looking though. I stare at the simplicity of those 4 letters every day and love it more and more (it’s my son’s name:)). And I prefer [name]Owen[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] to [name]Declan[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]. I don’t love the two hard C sounds in a row.
My first instinct is [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Ava[/name]. [name]Both[/name] very simple, elemental names, nice open sounds.
[name]Declan[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] might be a bit more “of 2013” in twenty years, but I wouldn’t call [name]Declan[/name] trendy.
I like that [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] are both sort of number names. [name]Ava[/name] is 1 to me, because [name]Eve[/name] was the first woman. [name]Declan[/name] is ten because it contains “dec.” If you have a third, you could do a name that jumps another decimal… Cenric or [name]Hunter[/name] for 100. Or maybe just another number name… [name]Quentin[/name] or [name]Quintus[/name]? [name]Septima[/name]?
