[name_f]Amity[/name_f]

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] an old time disease
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] lovely
Ffen? No
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] Also no
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] Refreshing
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] pretty but bit much
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] Sounds like a So [name_u]Cal[/name_u] spa
Lowenna Interesting and new to me
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]? [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] Nice

[b][name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] /b - A wonderfully lush name of a saint. [name_f]Effie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eppie[/name_f] are great nn’s too.
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - better in the middle spot
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] (fee-on) - I like this one. I never used to like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] either but both have grown on me.
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] - it’s pretty but it has the troublesome “arian/aryan” in front
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - this is lovely and I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as well
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] (you-lay-lee-ah) - another wonderful saint’s name. I do slightly prefer the [name_m]French[/name_m] version [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] but this is pretty too.
Lowenna - this is popular in [name_f]England[/name_f] especially Cornwall. It has a soft sound.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - an underused gem
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - just makes me think of the film “Amityville Horror”

I like some of these names and think they’re fun but some I have some concerns about.

I particularly enjoy (in no particular order): [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] (though not really out there for a berry), [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f], & [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f].

I am a little concerned about: [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] (it’s too close to euphemism for me) and Lowenna (mostly because when I say the name there is a lot of emphasis on the LOW sound. which I find undesirable.)

I’m also crushing on [name_f]Ffion[/name_f]. I love that one.
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] is interesting but it reminds me of [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] which I like much more.
I think [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is ok, Not a big fan of the others.
I’m definitely not liking [name_f]Amity[/name_f] though.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f]! One of my favourites!

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - lovely!
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] - pretty and snowy and christmassy. [name_f]Love[/name_f] it.
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - pretty.
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f].
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] - great.
Lowenna - I prefer [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] or [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f].
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - maybe [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]? [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is a bit wordy.
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - lovely.

Hooray hoorah for new discoveries! Have a good day.

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] - is certainly unusual, at first I read Euphemism and I was like ‘We’re going too far’, [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] is a pretty awesome saint as well, very strong to never break under all that torture. Maybe I shouldn’t be mentioning the torture. Point is, she was a strong lady.

[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - Yeah it’s cute, I knew a girl with that name, of course she went by [name_f]Amy[/name_f], but we were teenagers, she might have embraced it now.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t heard it that much outside [name_m]Wales[/name_m], I always thought it would be a sweet middle.

[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] - Nice name, you can get [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] out of it. Prefer [name_f]Arianwyn[/name_f] but some see that as an abomination, I just prefer the pronunciation.

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - While I wouldn’t personally, like [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f], it’s not a bad person to be associated with, and there’s a much more direct association with this name.

[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] - I’m biased because I knew one at school who spelt it Eulaliah and I swear to god and the baby [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] she was the most annoying person I have ever come across. Obviously you don’t have that. But I cannot fairly comment because of it.

[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] - It’s cute, not too out there but not exactly common, at least not anywhere I know of.

Lowenna - Not my style.

[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - A bit plain I think. Not too out there.

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - Another [name_f]Amy[/name_f] name. I actually really like [name_f]Amity[/name_f] as a name, it’s not something I’d ever use though, not a favourite, but still a name I really like. It’s a great virtue for any child to be named after, all you have to do is hope it doesn’t become ironic.

I don’t think it’s an abomination, but because my family is part Welsh, I feel like using the traditional way is best

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] (you-feem-ee-yah) - I’m not fond of this name and I can’t figure out why. The Euphemism connotation is a bit much though

[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - This name is actually growing on me. Quite nice.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] (fee-on) - A bit too much for me. Sounds like the name of a car or something.

[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] - Any name with [name_m]Arian[/name_m] is to close to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m] for my liking

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I love this name especially with all the history behind it.

[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] (you-lay-lee-ah) - Beautiful name, but too close to Eulogy for me.

[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] - I like

Lowenna - I love but it reminds me alot of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] which I would probably use instead

[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - perfectly lovely name, but I prefer friller names so this isn’t my cup of tea.

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - The Amityville association is alot and they will probably continually make remakes of it. Not sure if this association will ever die.

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] is most certainly ready for a comeback, with [name_f]Effie[/name_f] so prominent in The Hunger Games. She’s on my long list.
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] is too, very refreshing but not really my style.
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] is perfect, so much more interesting but just as beautiful as [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], on my long list too!
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] is just not my style. It just looks like a creative way to say [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], but I know it isn’t.
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] is boring and sounds like something a ten year old might make up…
Lowenna, I’m not really sure what to think of it. It isn’t very pretty looking and I don’t know any background but I don’t like it much.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] is lovely, though a still a bit old, maybe ready for a comeback in a few years or so. I can see the appeal though.
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] is gorgeous, not my style, but very pretty and I think it’s pretty wearable.

I don’t think any of them are unusable. I would be thrilled to see any of them on a little girl.

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] – It does sound like an ancient disease
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] – It’s alright, not my taste at all though
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] – Sounds like a name for a poodle or a type of Toyota car
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] – Welsh name? It’s ok.
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] – Like this name, best name on the list
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] – Sounds like a psychiatric disorder
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] – Frilly
Lowenna – Old timey
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] – It’s ok
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] – 2nd best name on the list, can use the nn [name_f]Amy[/name_f].

I only think [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is the only usable name on this list, and that’s only because of the nn possibility of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].

I like Guineivere and Lowenna…and [name_f]Constance[/name_f] somewhat. Not a fan of the -bel ending. I think [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] is an unwise choice due to the similarity to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m] (Brotherhood, Nazis etc :frowning: ) I am ambivalent on the others.

I don’t recall if I’ve talked to you about [name_f]Amity[/name_f] before or not, so my apologies if this is repetitive. Of course people have some trouble pronouncing it (mostly wanting to add an N–“Amnity”) But most people also don’t know the meaning so I don’t think there is much risk of it becoming ironic. Also, most people can be a good friend to someone, right? I hope? It is fun to run across people who are familiar with the meaning (usually [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers or academics) The Amityville association is decreasing where I live–but I don’t live anywhere near [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m]. It is fun to run across it used as a word in books: The Canterbury Tales, [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f], Gone With the Wind are a few. But the most exciting news is that it is the name of a tribe in the Divergent book series which is being made into a film series. It could become the next Hunger Games, so people might become more familiar. I haven’t read the series, but apparently the [name_f]Amity[/name_f] are peaceful and democratic (basically the actual definition of the word)…so hopefully that will be some positive PR to counter the Amityville association. Nicknames: My sister calls me Spam (which I have jokingly corrected to The Spaminator) my husband names his videogame characters Ammo, otherwise friends simply call me Am…like my username I am Am I am (like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] I am in [name_u]Green[/name_u] Eggs and [name_m]Ham[/name_m])

I don’t believe you have, but it’s great hearing from someone with the name! It’s definitely my favourite of the virtues. I’m glad Amityville Horror isn’t as strongly attached anymore  Hopefully you’re right and that book series can vanquish the Amityville connections.

[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f] (you-feem-ee-yah) - Dislike.
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] - I’m not crazy about this one.
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] (fee-on) - I don’t like the sound. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is better.
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] - I prefer just [name_f]Anwen[/name_f], but I don’t dislike this.
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f], but don’t hate Guenivere - its just a little nerdy.
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] (you-lay-lee-ah) - I don’t think this is a name for real life. Its kind of a mouthful.
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] - I feel like this is a name for someone’s pet cow, for some reason.
Lowenna - I quite like this.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] - I don’t like virtue names at all so this is a no from me.
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - Its another virtue name so I’m not crazy about it but as far as sound goes its miles ahead of [name_f]Constance[/name_f].
