I’ve been really liking [name_f]Delta[/name_f] lately. I love the sound, how it’s unexpected but not too outrageous, it feels spunky and fun but also works on an adult. However- is it too tied to the airline? Does it really age well? Which of my middles would you pair with it? Suggestions for different middles and names that are similar to [name_f]Delta[/name_f] welcome, thanks!
I do think of the airline, but 1) I’m someone who travels a lot 2) If I met someone with the name I wouldn’t find it weird just because it’s the airline’s name.
I think it’s a fun and strong choice for a girl that would age just fine. It reminds me of other cool short girls’ names like [name_f]Oona[/name_f]/[name_f]Una[/name_f], [name_f]Zosia[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_u]Vida[/name_u], Tetra, [name_f]Thora[/name_f], [name_f]Theda[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Rhea[/name_f], Runa, [name_f]Raina[/name_f], [name_f]Petra[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Nica[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], [name_f]Myra[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Maura[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Magda[/name_f], [name_f]Idony[/name_f], [name_f]Inga[/name_f], [name_f]Hester[/name_f], [name_f]Honor[/name_f], Graihagh, [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clea[/name_f], [name_f]Bette[/name_f], [name_f]Aster[/name_f] and [name_f]Audra[/name_f].
I wouldn’t pair it with one of the middle names on your signature, I think it needs a middle name that’s a bit more familiar/traditional to balance it out.
Hmm…well, I think of the airline because I love travel! I think people who don’t fly [name_f]Delta[/name_f] or watch a lot of action flicks wouldn’t have an overwhelming association, and those who do will likely have that overshadowed the longer they know someone with the name and the closer they are to that person.
The airline association isn’t honestly that bad. It’s not like it’s a sleazy magazine or name of a world-famous dictator. To play devil’s advocate, there’s also the military use and the velociraptor from Jurassic World.
I think [name_f]Delta[/name_f] would be a flattering middle name in a Greek combo. That might offset the contemporary usage by amplifying its Grecian origins:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] is a cute name. I feel like there are other associations for that name that are just as strong as the airline, like the greek letter and [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_m]Burke[/name_m]. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using it.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f] is actually a very famous figure in Greek literature so I’d advise against that one. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea of pairing it with a Greek name though, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f] is really cute.
I’d definitely think of the airline. I’d use it as a middle personally, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using it as a first!
I think [name_f]Delta[/name_f] is lovely! Quirky but certainly sensible and mature enough to work for a lifetime. I think of the geographical feature before the airline, but then I haven’t flown for years!

@katinka thank you for the suggestions! I really like the idea of [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]. [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] and [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] are beautiful. I also like [name_f]Delta[/name_f] Sonne a lot.
I do appreciate the ideas for first namenames for [name_f]Delta[/name_f]. But I think I am only interested in using it as a first name.
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Delta[/name_f] Goodram who is an Australian recording artist. I have never heard of the airline. To me the word delta reminds me of the river mouth (eg [name_u]Nile[/name_u]) which break into different streams.
I have looked up [name_f]Delta[/name_f] as a name. It is pretty and okay. I really love Deltora from a children’s series of books. Deltora is in my name collection. (My hobby is simply collecting names)
I’m aware of the airline, but it wouldn’t be my first thought when hearing [name_f]Delta[/name_f]. It makes me think of the Greek letter, and the mathematical symbol for change, of differential. ‘Change’ is not a bad meaning, especially if this is your first child, as it’s the change of you becoming parents.
I think [name_f]Delta[/name_f] would go better with a more traditional middle name, and not a word name. [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] etc
I think there are several strong associations for [name_f]Delta[/name_f], so the airline doesn’t dominate.

I initially thought of differential equations (I was an economics major), then of the airline (which I despise) so my personal associations are quite negative. With that being said, I really like [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u], and her daughter’s name is [name_f]Delta[/name_f] and I think it’s actually a pretty cute name.
I love [name_f]Delta[/name_f]! I think she is spunky and very usable. I don’t automatically think of the airline. I wouldn’t use another word name in the middle, though.
I travel a lot, so I think of [name_f]Delta[/name_f] airlines first, however with a classic middle name this name could actually work.
I am not American so don’t think of the airline, I just think of [name_f]Delta[/name_f] Goodrem. And I really like [name_f]Delta[/name_f], super cute! [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u] and [name_m]Dax[/name_m] [name_m]Shepard[/name_m]'s daughter is called [name_f]Delta[/name_f] as well.
Random combos that I think fit [name_f]Delta[/name_f] well… [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f].
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] is lovely! I like that it feels feminine without being frilly. It also seems like the name of a highly intelligent person: The character in the Greek alphabet and the mathematical symbol come to mind, as do connections with music and nature, long before the airline. Similar names (sorry for repeats), either in sound or vibe, are [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Dulce[/name_f], [name_u]Harbor[/name_u], [name_f]Avril[/name_f], [name_f]Delphi[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Fauna[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f]/[name_u]Larkin[/name_u], [name_f]Astra[/name_f], [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], [name_f]Marin[/name_f]/[name_f]Marine[/name_f]/[name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f]/[name_f]Delia[/name_f], and [name_u]Prairie[/name_u].
