I think my parents are sick of my baby fever and finding unique ways to honor them. before you give your opinion on my honor name this requires some back story.
my mom didn’t have a very good childhood and the only thing that brought her joy was plants. she went to horticulture college and worked at a nursery for a few years before she came to america to marry my father. she hasn’t had a garden in many years because my father and I share a hate of flowers. but she gardens at my grandma’s.
So I was thinking I would use the name [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] to honor her, the goddess of the harvest. I love Mythology and I think it would be a beautiful honor name for my mother. and her middle name would be [name_u]Angel[/name_u], because me, my mother and my grandmother are named after an [name_u]Angel[/name_u] (at least I was told I was named after an [name_u]Angel[/name_u], I’m not really sure if that’s true).
what do you guys think of [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] [name_u]Angel[/name_u]?

It’s not my taste which is obviously very subjective. [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] is one of the Greek goddess names that doesn’t cross over to other cultures very successfully, in my opinion. I absolutely adore the meaning behind it though, and I think referencing a special passion of your mother’s is a gorgeous way to honour rather than being very ‘on the nose.’ This theme would excite me as there are so many beautiful options!
From my own list - Aluma. It means sheaf of grain at harvest and I find it absolutely beautiful. The ‘lum’ syllable combined with the meaning makes me think of golden, honeyed Autumnal light, and it shares the same cosy, woolly feel as [name_u]Alma[/name_u] while being a bit more different. Also has [name_u]Lou[/name_u] nn potential which I personally like.
Other options -
[name_f]Demetria[/name_f] (prefer this to [name_u]Demeter[/name_u], it’s [name_f]Demi[/name_f] Moore’s full name)
[name_f]Cerelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cerella[/name_f] (from [name_f]Ceres[/name_f], Demeter’s [name_m]Roman[/name_m] counterpart)
[name_f]Annona[/name_f] - love this and only exed from my list as I decided I prefer Aluma
means corn / grain
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] are more normy options.
As far as [name_u]Angel[/name_u] goes, for me it’s too on the nose and makes the name altogether very mythological and kind of dilutes the impact of each name individually? If it were me trying to find a name with this meaning, I’d be scouring the actual angel names for inspiration because there are some gorgeous ones. [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f] immediately springs to mind
but perhaps there is one which is thematically appropriate or meaningful for what you want? All that said I don’t see anything wrong with [name_u]Angel[/name_u] in the middle spot and it has pretty sounds. I think, for me, it’s the combo.

I’m not really a fan of the names you suggested, nothing against them, I just really love [name_u]Demeter[/name_u],

Well that’s fair enough, and tbf you didn’t ask for other suggestions. I just found this a fun subject
. I think for me it’s the ‘meter’ part - I just see that word which isn’t a negative word in itself but that’s what makes it feel awkward to me as a name I think.
I also love the mythogical sound, I’m very fasinated by Mythology and a lot of the honor names on my list come from Greek, Norse, and Gaelic Mythology.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I adore mythological names! They’re among some of my absolute favourites, particularly with a Gaelic, Celtic, Norse or Arthurian legend feel. [name_f]My[/name_f] point wasn’t that mythological names are too much - my point was that if you like me are a lover of this type of name, then (to me) what you are going for is diluted using two like this in close proximity.

yeah, I get that. I would use the angels actual name, but I don’t like the sound of it, I might use [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] [name_u]Joan[/name_u] though because my mothers favorite singer is [name_u]John[/name_u] Farnham.

[name_u]Demeter[/name_u] is a bold and powerful choice, full of meaning and it has strength. [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] [name_u]Angel[/name_u] feels a bit descriptive to me, but I don’t mind it.
