Denise and Denna

What do you think of the names [name_f]Denise[/name_f] or Denna for a girl? It think they sound really pretty and I like the nickname [name_f]Denni[/name_f].

I can picture [name_f]Denise[/name_f] on a princess.

Where I live (Atlantic Canada) [name_f]Denise[/name_f] is quite dated - very much a ‘70s/‘80s baby name. I don’t mind it on its own but it doesn’t feel fresh to me.

Denna is new to me and I don’t mind it! I think it would have a high likelihood of being mistaken for [name_f]Donna[/name_f], [name_u]Dana[/name_u], and [name_f]Deanna[/name_f] (again, where I live) but I like it OK on its own.

I like both of these. I agree with @oregano7 that [name_f]Denise[/name_f] feels a bit dated. Perhaps better suited for a princess in a story set in a different time/place.

[name_f]Denni[/name_f] is a super cute nickname for [name_f]Denise[/name_f], but to use it as a nickname for Denna feels like a mispronunciation of the full name. I can very easily see Denna as the name of a warrior-esque princess in a fantasy novel! (Though perhaps I’m associating it with [name_f]Diana[/name_f], the name of an Ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess, and the late [name_f]Princess[/name_f] of Wales)

I also think [name_f]Denise[/name_f] is dated, but I think it’s still suitable for a newborn girl. Denna is very pretty
