All I really can think of of [name]Denzel[/name] [name]Washington[/name]. That’s certainly not a bad thing, but it is a very strong connection. Besides that, I don’t really like the name, but I think it has a nice sound so i can see why other people like it.
I do like the name, but as Dantea said, the connection to [name]Denzel[/name] [name]Washington[/name] is very strong and will be the first thing people would comment on if you gave a child the name [name]Denzel[/name]. If you’re OK with that, then there’s no problem on that front.
It’s nice. [name]How[/name] are you pronouncing it. If it’s “din-[name]ZELL[/name]” I think of [name]Denzel[/name] [name]Washington[/name]. If it’s “din-zill” I think of [name]Denzel[/name] Crocker from Fairly OddParents
Agree with this completely. I just can’t get past the actor.
I’ve never heard of a single person with this name aside from the actor.
I don’t think it’s a terrible name, but I can’t imagine using it.
The only thing I ever think of is [name]Denzel[/name] [name]Washington[/name]. It’s his name in my book. I can’t associate with any other person.
[name]Shame[/name] it isn’t liked so far as I was looking for a Cornish name. Oh well, back to drawing board.
Well if you want some Cornish boy names I like:
[name]Kitto[/name] – I’ve used this one in a story
[name]Pascoe[/name]
[name]Penrose[/name] – I absolutely adore [name]Penrose[/name], but it might be difficult for a boy to pull off.
[name]Rumo[/name]
Branek/Branok
Cador
[name]Jago[/name]
[name]Jory[/name]
Austol
Kenvern
[name]Peran[/name]
[name]Tristan[/name]
Zennor
[name]Do[/name] you like any of those?
Thanks, I will consider those.
First thought:
Cador
I also read that [name]Caden[/name] was actaully Cornish. But it is not often chosen for that link I suspect.
Funnily enough, I just heard of a guy named [name]Denzel[/name] today. I actually commented that it’s a cool name even though the first thing I thought of was [name]Denzel[/name] [name]Washington[/name]. I’d use it! I pronounce it [name]DEN[/name]-zil though…
I saw an interview once where [name]Denzel[/name] [name]Washington[/name] said that the correct pronunciation for the name is actually den-zil but since he shares his first name with his father, his parents pronounced his name den-zell to differentiate between the two. He said that’s how he knew a young actor he was working with ([name]Denzel[/name] [name]Whitaker[/name]) was named after him since he also used the incorrect pronunciation.
Oh wow, that’s interesting! Thanks good to know I’ve been pronouncing it the right way this whole time
