Derivative of flower name wanted

Hello everyone,

been a while since I was here, but always received some great suggestions, so here I go again.

I’m looking for a name for a female character, which is derived from a flower name.

But of course, I don’t make things that simple for myself^^

  • The “new” name must be derived from an actual flower name (Rose, Poppy, Iris) and not a name that simply means flower, like Flora or Blossom for example.

  • The new name should have a meaning of its own, and shouldn’t be a mere nickname.

  • Her last name is Azeri or Azenari, so the first name should work with that.

  • Since it is a fantasy setting, it can be a unique/unusual name.

The character is quite tough and fierce, a fighter through and through and looking out for herself first.

Some names I have considered so far

Magnolia

possible new names: Noa, Nola/Nolia (don’t like Maggie or Mags for this character)

Noa as a version of Noah meaning „motion“, could be tied to the character moving forward

Nola can apparently also mean „noble“ or „famous“ might also work

Azalea

possible new names: Alea, Zalie, Zayla

Alea is listed here as meaning risk or chance, which would fit the character

while I really like Zalie, I always connect it with a much younger character, plus it, as well as Zayla, doesn’t seem to have a meaning of its own, being just a short form of Azalea

Camellia

possible new names: Melia, Elia (not to fond of Cami, Celia or Ella)

Melia meaning honey could be tied into the characters history really well, being called „Honey“ as a despised nickname/petname and now turning it around and owning it, sort of as a badge of honor, showing the character rose above.

Wisteria

possible new names: Teri, Terra

meaning harvest and earth respectively, beautiful but don’t quite fit the character

My current favorites are either Alea or Melia but neither has “clicked”, meaning I like them but don’t love them (at least not yet).

But maybe you have the perfect idea, either with another variant of the flower names above or with a completely new name. Whatever it is, you’ll have my eternal gratitude. :hibiscus:

I like [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f] as a short form of [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f], [name_m]Aletris[/name_m] also sounds very nice. [name_f]Sia[/name_f] also fits very well, with the meaning of beginning and victory and [name_f]Denia[/name_f] is gorgeous. [name_m]Larkspur[/name_m] is also a very interesing option. Definetly looking into these more.
