Desmond Salvator

I have been searching for a middle name for [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] but nothing feels right. I recently stumbled on [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] and I really love it! Is [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] too much? I want something with [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] that isn’t common - but yet something simple. [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] might not be as simple as I had hoped but I kinda love this combo! Too much of a mouthful though? I read [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] and all its versions are “old world” and falling off the chart. Am I the only one who finds this name striking then?

Desmond [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] is striking and bold!

I think the flow of the name sounds great but they both feel very different when put together as a combo? So it feels a little awkward to me.

I feel like [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] is on people’s radars. Its a cool classic due to modern sounding nicknames like [name_m]Dez[/name_m] or [name_u]Desi[/name_u]. [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] is a different breed for sure. Its apparently an old world grandpa name and it has many variations- and they’re considered older, but not in a retro-comeback fashion in every variation - more like unhip, reminds me of the grandpa I didnt like vibe- so its definitely an odd one probably in any combo?

I really want to like it but I’m not sure either. I think its the “tor” ending I’m vibing with so maybe [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m] is the safer bet?

I think its an overall cool name.
But I wonder if [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] are different in styles?

Maybe…
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] [name_m]Salvator[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Salvator[/name_m]

The initials would be DS, that’s my only concern.

I dont know what DS means? The initials would be DSH.

I didnt know styles are supposed to match with names. I also don’t know what that means - isn’t that subjective? Do you mean like two Irish names?

I’m not sure I love Desmond Salvator but I just mean in general how do you pair styles and why is DS bad?

I think [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] actually go well together stylistically! What they meant is that putting two styles of names (for example, trendy [name_m]Kaeden[/name_m] with vintage [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] in the combo [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]Kaeden[/name_m] feels mismatched, but I think [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] go great together!

I honestly have no idea what they’re referring to with DS. Like a nintendo DS? Down Syndrome?? I feel like that’s a stretch. Idk but I wouldn’t worry about the initials, it’s definitely not something obviously bad

Super cool name! but it does remind me of [name_m]Damon[/name_m] [name_m]Salvador[/name_m] from the vampire diaries :grimacing: I think they sound good together though!!

Awe cool. I have never watched Vampire Diaries- is he a vampire? I tend to like vampire names - [name_m]Marius[/name_m], Angelous. Maybe I just like names that end in-us!

It’s super subjective though, I actually think [name_m]Kaeden[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], while definitely different stylistically feel rather natural together as they both strike me as [name_f]English[/name_f]-language / British names. It’s similar to [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or Reegyn [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], modern fn paired with a classic middle name.
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] feel mismatched to me because [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] feels very [name_f]English[/name_f] while [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] gives off a very southern European / [name_u]South[/name_u] American vibe. [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m], for example, would sound more natural to me.

However, this just proves that names that “go together” are different for each and everyone of us, and if you OP really like [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] together, then absolutely go for it!

Yeah I also think of [name_m]Damon[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] from TVD. Yes, he is a vampire. Most of the series he’s a “villain” but he has a character arc and ends the series as a “good guy.”

But I think they use this name in the series because it has a great flow and is very regal! And [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] is the surname, while [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] will be your little one’s middle name. So I don’t think the connection is too close.

I like mixing and matching styles too sometimes! I didnt do it on purpose here though. I believe [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] is an Irish name and [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] I’m actually not sure because there are various variations all over. They both seemed like “older” names to me, its just [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] is one of those vintage names that is back in style and [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] has totally fallen off the charts. I recognize that is really different but I didnt think they were SO off stylistically!

Again I think I like the “tor” ending. Was wondering if maybe [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m] worked better or if there are other names that might sound similar with [name_m]Desmond[/name_m]. I was also wondering if [name_m]Salvator[/name_m] is going extinct so to speak! I do think it seems like a sweet name, it means “savior.”

Maybe similar names like [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] are back in fashion ? (I don’t care for [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] though unfortunately- its too tied to [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] the cat to me - also it kinda reminds me of he word jester).

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought too. Though I don’t think that should be a dealbreaker if [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] is the child’s middle name. I love the way [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] sounds together! Plus, I personally like names that have a dark (or in this case vampire) aesthetic
