So, my husband and I are struggling to agree on girl names. We have a boy name chosen (Miles Alistair), but I want a girl name that is short. I’m notorious for nicknaming. Our first child is [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] (she goes by the double name, [name_f]Stella[/name_f] Kate) and it’s been hard to find a name we both like that sounds good with that. Imaging calling for them at the same time and not getting tongue-tied
Names I most like are:
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Elora[/name_f]
He likes:
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (my sister in law is [name_f]Emily[/name_f], however)
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Leia[/name_f]
I need some serious help! He hates [name_f]May[/name_f], which is my favorite. And I don’t want another S name or one that’s too close to Emily/Emma. Short, sweet, first name, but middle name could be longer. I love old names, but it doesn’t have to be.
Someone give me some ideas. I have a LONG list we’ve stared at
We also have [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] on our list! We don’t have [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] but are also considering [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] which is a nickname, I think. Honestly, I think all of the names your list are beautiful but think [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] compliments [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] the best!
Thank you so much! I agree. [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] was my first choice. It sounds so sweet next to [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I also love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], but it’s way too close to my own name. We have a habit of attracting like-named people in my family. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother is [name_u]Alex[/name_u] and my husband is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], we have an [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and an [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. It’s just too much to add a [name_u]Whitney[/name_u] and a [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is ideal! [name_f]My[/name_f] eldest daughter’s favorite stuffed animal is named [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], though - which is our only deterrent for picking the name ourselves!! Good luck!
Hmm I was going to suggest [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] to go with [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but if you want to avoid another S, [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]?
I feel like most of your list is quite heavy on the Ls which is a bit difficult with [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. I agree about avoiding the closeness with [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Leia[/name_f] starts to feel a bit [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars themed…
Not sure if you want another double name or a single.
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
It’s funny that you added [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Our daughter has been adamant that we use [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] (her favorite show right now is Rosie’s Rules on PBS) or [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] for a boy (yes, as in the big, red dog )
