DH and I are trying to come up with names for our future son/daughter, but I am completely stumped on boy names! There are a few I like, but i am afraid they are getting too popular. What do you think?
Lincoln
Dashiell
Abram/Bram/Brahm/Brom
Also, one of my favorites is Niall. I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] this name. We would pronounce it “[name_u]Nile[/name_u].” HOWEVER our last name is pronounced “[name_u]Cruz[/name_u]” (though not spelled that way. [name_f]Nor[/name_f] is it spelled “[name_f]Cruise[/name_f].”) I’m afraid people will automatically think of a “nile cruise.”
What do you think? Are all of these names getting too popular? Is [name_u]Niall[/name_u] “[name_u]Cruz[/name_u]” okay? Any other suggestions for names? I like these names because the nicknames are “cool” but the full name is distinguished. I also like something that’s unique but not too trendy… but I’m open to anything! I’m so stumped, so any help is appreciated!
I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Niall[/name_u] [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] because it does sound like [name_u]Nile[/name_u] [name_f]Cruise[/name_f]. But that’s just me.
I’m having a hard time picking up on your “style” so I’m going to throw out a bunch of suggestions:
[name_m]Montague[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafael[/name_m]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]Bradley[/name_u]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_m]Delmar[/name_m]
[name_m]Theophilus[/name_m]
[name_m]Remington[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Langdon[/name_m]
[name_m]Stanford[/name_m]
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Harlan[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_m]Talmadge[/name_m]
I love both [name_m]Abram[/name_m] (I prefer [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] because it’s a big more traditional, but that’s me) and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]. Call me a lover of presidents, but they just sound so stately!
I agree that [name_u]Nile[/name_u] [name_f]Cruise[/name_f] is probably asking for it. You might be able to get away with it if you loved it.
I would say [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] isn’t exceptionally popular, but it’s certainly trendy. I’ve never heard the name before about 10 years ago, so it’s a very 2010s name. At the same time, it’s not so popular that you have to worry about a bunch of kids having the same name, though there may be a few.
Based on the four you mentioned, you might like:
[name_m]Neville[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
[name_u]Lionel[/name_u]
I also love the suggestions from collmcc523 of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Langston[/name_m].
Aside from [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] I think you’re totally overthinking the popularity thing - those are not popular names. I’d avoid [name_u]Niall[/name_u] because yes, [name_u]Nile[/name_u] [name_f]Cruise[/name_f] does come to mind with your surname, sorry!
