Desperate--please help?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries!

I’m notoriously bad at keeping up with forums of all kinds, but have finally given in to the temptation to join the nameberry community. I’ve stalked for a long while, but stubbornly held to the hope that me and my SO would be able to name our second child without any help. Unfortunately, I hadn’t counted on 1) other family members/friends/random people on the subway weighing in, and 2) each of us rooting for different names at this final stage. And that’s where we want your help! Tell us what you think about each of these names, both by themselves and as siblings to [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] ([name_f]Juni[/name_f]). We’d even love some fresh suggestions, if you can work out some general style/taste things from our list.

Names on the table right now:

[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
???

Thoughts on narrowing down the names already there? Suggestions for more? First/middle combinations using either one or two of the names above? Again, we would so appreciate any help you could give us. Thanks in advance!

  • [name_u]Blue[/name_u]

([name_m]Little[/name_m] side-note: we’re not [name_m]Christian[/name_m], so try to avoid names with ‘[name_m]Christ[/name_m]’/‘angel’ in them. Going along with that, the last name we’re giving to the kids sounds very weird with distinctively Irish names, so we’d love it if you could avoid suggesting those. Thanks!)

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] from your list I like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] the best with [name_f]Junia[/name_f]

or
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] or [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]/Cybella
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] ([name_m]Lay[/name_m] lah)
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Lacey[/name_f]
[name_f]Tahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Talitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]

From your favorites I really like the combo [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. Other options:

[name_u]Bevin[/name_u]
[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]
[name_f]Grier[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_f]Marin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamzin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]

[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]

With [name_f]Juni[/name_f], I agree that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would be a nice choice. I also like [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] or [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as well as [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] (though not together).

Other ideas:
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] ([name_f]Tati[/name_f])
[name_f]Hana[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] ([name_f]Miri[/name_f])

[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] sound perfect, imo.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f], [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f].

[name_f]Greta[/name_f]- Its okay, but I see it more on an old lady, not a baby.
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]- Meh, its alright. Doesn’t really go with [name_f]Junia[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]-[name_f]Love[/name_f] this one!
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]- This goes really well with [name_f]Junia[/name_f]!
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]- Not a fan.
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]- Really pretty, and sounds good with [name_f]Junia[/name_f]!
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]- Sounds a bit plain compared to [name_f]Junia[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]?
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]- I love this name, but not sure if it goes.
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]- I much prefer [name_f]Luna[/name_f], which goes really well with [name_f]Junia[/name_f].

I’d go for [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. Good luck:)

I like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] the best from your list as a sib to [name_f]Junia[/name_f].
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]

I love Greata, [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] with your daughters name. I’ll think of some other names too.

From your list I love [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] (but prefer [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]), [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] personally. I love [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u], but not with [name_f]Junia[/name_f]. I’m reminded of a family I know who named their daughter a beautiful Arabic name that means universe and funnily enough rhymes with [name_f]Junia[/name_f], but starts with a D. They named their second child a more contemporary, simple one-syllable Arabic name. My [name_f]MIL[/name_f] mentioned to me that their second name seemed kind of lackluster next to their daughter’s name. I agreed. Although I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u], it seems a little light with a Latin sister. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] is just stunning!

What do you think of [name_f]Renata[/name_f]? [name_f]Renata[/name_f] to me, has the chic European feel of [name_f]Camille[/name_f] and you could use [name_u]Wren[/name_u] as a nickname! I really like the suggestions of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f].

Here are a few other suggestions. Sorry for repeats.

[name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_f]Marin[/name_f]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Ondine[/name_f]
[name_f]Regina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tanaquil[/name_f]
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]

Good luck!

I don’t believe sibling names have to be very well matched, but I’m not feeling any of the choices listed as a sister to [name_f]Junia[/name_f], which is absolutely gorgeous. I’d like to see something of equal weight and shine, like [name_f]Lidia[/name_f], [name_f]Nella[/name_f], [name_f]Aviva[/name_f], Tanzia, [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], Rumina etc

I like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] the best with [name_f]Junia[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is really nice as both refer to birds.

Have you considered [name_f]Alma[/name_f], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_f]Hermia[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Myra[/name_f], [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] or [name_f]Talitha[/name_f]? Not to make things more complicated for you, you really can’t go wrong with your list

I think something you need something with a bit of spark to go with [name_f]Junia[/name_f], which is a lovely, interesting name with a lot of spark itself. From your list, I think something like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] goes best. What about (sorry if you don’t love -a names like I do!!):

[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]/[name_f]Ottavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eudora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dora[/name_f]
[name_f]Violetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Romia[/name_f]/[name_f]Romeine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelpha[/name_f]
[name_f]Aphra[/name_f]
[name_f]Dulcinea[/name_f]
[name_f]Florentia[/name_f]/[name_f]Florencia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fidelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gala[/name_f]/[name_f]Galla[/name_f]
[name_f]Eustacia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Stacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Idonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f] (for [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelia[/name_f])
[name_f]Cleora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Amita[/name_f]/[name_f]Amica[/name_f]
[name_f]Elvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ravenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Alula[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Corisande[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f]

I could go on and on

Hi guys! I promise I didn’t forget about this; I’ve just been super busy. Thank you so much for your input. I wish I could thank you all individually for this huge amount of help you’ve provided, and I could definitely use your opinions on our revised list. First/middle combos, further narrowing down, and a few more suggestions would all be lovely. <3

Lenora, nickname Lena
Hazel (too plain?)
Paloma
Wren (middle only)
Miriam
Mirabel
Sidonie

Combos we have now (not many!):

Mirabel Wren
Lenora Wren
Sidonie Wren
Paloma Wren
Hazel Aviva
Sidonie Miriam
Paloma Miriam
Lenora Hazel
Miriam Sidonie

Some of these combos are obviously better than others, but we just wanted to get started a little. Any thoughts? Feel free to suggest tons of new names as middles, because many of ours aren’t ideal.

EDIT - also! Thanks so much for the compliments on Juni’s name. We love it too, and really appreciate it.

Bumping this. I apologize if that isn’t allowed.:frowning:

[name_f]GRETA[/name_f]!!! I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. Its one of my favorite names. And I like the combo [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], or [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Lenora[/name_f].

I also love [name_f]Greta[/name_f]! It seems to have fallen out of the running but I love [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]! So as far as what you have… my fave is [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. As a side note… we are using [name_u]Wren[/name_u] ourselves as a mn so I might be partial to it. I realize they both refer to birds but that doesn’t bother me.

I will throw out [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] as a suggestion. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]?

Your list is just beautiful! Very spunky, too. My favorites from your list include [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. If you choose [name_f]Lenora[/name_f], you can always use “[name_f]Lena[/name_f]” for a nickname. I would suggest [name_f]Leona[/name_f] as a similar alternative.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_u]Bevin[/name_u] (from mrs_darling’s suggestions)
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f] [name_f]Mable[/name_f]
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], too! That name just tickles my fancy. To me it sounds strong, spicey, yet very natural and graceful. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] and [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] make a good pairing. From the names on your list, I suggest:
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f]

[name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] is so beautiful, and it’s great to see you trying hard to match the beauty!

Without taking sister’s name into consideration [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is by far my favourite name, alongside [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

Now as a sister set I like…

[name_f]Junia[/name_f] & [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]

Combo’s…
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is stunning, as is [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] but because I prefer [name_f]Junia[/name_f] & [name_u]Wren[/name_u] as sister’s I’m loving [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] more.

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] maybe? I’m finding it hard to find middle names for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] from your list. If I could suggest something I’d say [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]?

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] works nicely too.
