Despoina

I’ve recently fallen in love with this name. Despoina is a Greek name. She is the daughter of [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] and [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] and the twin of Arion (a talking horse). There are two pronounciations though, and I love both of them. Which would you guys think of when you see the name?
Dh- es-poin-ya
[name_m]Des[/name_m]-pin-ah

I prefer Despina spelling.

I agree with this; I think it makes the pronunciation more intuitive. However, as a mythology nerd, I really love this name!

I prefer the first one

I am not familiar with the name, but “Dh- es-poin-ya” would have been my guess.

I agree. Despina would be easier to live with.

I have know several Despoinas and they all use the Despoina spelling so I prefer that. I pronounce it [name_m]Des[/name_m]-pin-ah.

I like it said as Despinah and the spelling as Despina. The POIN stands out too much to me and since Despina is a legit variation of that name, I would just go with that. Either way, I love this name!! Good choice.

I know a Despina who goes by [name_u]Desi[/name_u]. In a non-Greek speaking country I’d definitely use the Despina spelling.
