I looked up the name [name]Dessa[/name] as it is a combo of my [name]MIL[/name]'s and my mothers name. I thought it might be a good way to honour both ( as a MN only). All I could find is that is was in the top 1000 in like 1900.
Anyone know what it means or it’s actual origin??
[name]Do[/name] you like it or does it seem “made up” ???
I sort of like it! It sort of reminds me of a combo of [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name]–I think I would prefer [name]Adessa[/name] (although I’m not sure how legit that is, either), but [name]Dessa[/name] is sweet. I think it would be confused with [name]Tessa[/name] a lot, though, so if I used it, it’d be as a MN…
ETA: Now that I’ve looked into it a bit more, I think [name]Odessa[/name] would be an attractive option, as well…
I would stick with [name]Dessa[/name] over [name]Odessa[/name]. Perhaps [name]Dessa[/name] originally came from [name]Odessa[/name]? I’m not sure, I never looked into it.
I don’t consider [name]Odessa[/name] a usable name:
I think [name]Dessa[/name] is most likely a short form of [name]Odessa[/name] (A Russian place name). As a middle name, anything goes, especially something honoring a family member. However, I would advice against [name]Dessa[/name] as a first name, but it works its magic beautiful in the middle name slot.
I think it works. It’s very pretty! I watch a home improvement show called ‘[name]Love[/name] it or List it’ and one of the people on there is named Desta. I had never heard it before and am somewhat drawn to it…
