My two daughters are named [name]Eileen[/name] and [name]Moira[/name]. My husband and I both love Irish names. However, now that we are trying for out third, we can’t find an Irish girl’s name that we both love. Yes, it might be a boy, but the statistics point to girl in our families. Also, I’m not so sure I want an all Irish boy’s if it makes it that much harder to get out of the groove when another girl come (Hubby and I want a lot of kids!) On top of that, I meet too many families that do the Irish thing, and it just doesn’t seem as fun anymore. So, my question is, can you guys help me find some names that could belong to an Irish lad or lass, but aren’t distinctly so? I want the naming transition to be graceful so that we aren’t like, " Here’s [name]Eileen[/name] and our other daughter [name]Conchita[/name]." lol! My requirements are classic, but not too common (like [name]Anne[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Emma[/name], or [name]Steven[/name]) and I try to avoid the top 20 if possible, but they’re not always out. Thanks guys - can’t wait to see what you come up with!
how about fiona? I would even consider using it myself and I’m not irish. It’s a lovely name but is very mainstream in my opinion. For a boy I really love the name [name]Rafferty[/name] or [name]Sullivan[/name]. Nn’s [name]Raffy[/name] and [name]Sully[/name]. It’s defnitely irish though, that’s the only thing. But I would consider using those names as well. In particular [name]Sullivan[/name] because Raffety doesn’t go with my sib set. hmmm, let’s see, there is also caitlyn (but very popular) and [name]Liam[/name] (also popular though). I think you have a ton of great names to choose from, just can’t think of anymore at the moment! haha
Maybe you could choose a Celtic name (Scottish, Welsh or Cornish) instead of another Irish name for [name]Eileen[/name] and [name]Moira[/name]'s sibling. [name]Branch[/name] out into the Celtic world of names . Or even something traditional like a saint’s name. If you expand your horizons , the variety of name choices increases for future children. Here are some suggestions. Good luck!

Hmmm…maybe there’s some Irish names out there that we missed. They keep finding new ones all the time (0: I think [name]Fiona[/name] is pretty too, but I am afraid everyone will think of Shrek! Scottish names are attractive to me - I absolutely love [name]Gillian[/name]! Out of that list, I like [name]Cecily[/name] best - very cute! I wonder what the DH will think?! I’m definitely looking at some more Celtic and even British choices. Good idea!
