[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys, what do you think of the name Dexlon for a girl? We would call her Dex for short. Middle name would be girly, maybe Dexlon [name_u]Arya[/name_u].
Thanks!

I don’t really care for it. You might like: [name_u]Dallas[/name_u], [name_u]Dakota[/name_u], [name_u]Lennox[/name_u], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_u]Darcey[/name_u], [name_u]Darby[/name_u], or [name_u]Dylan[/name_u].
I wouldn’t use it for either a boy or a girl – it sounds like a medication.
I like it! [name_m]Dex[/name_m] is cute!!
Dexlon is unattractive on either sex.
I like the nickname [name_m]Dex[/name_m], for a girl or boy… but I’m not keen on Dexlon as a full name, for either gender.
[name_m]Dex[/name_m] feels very masculine on a little girl. Dexlon doesn’t have a very nice sound imo.
I don’t think this works on any child, boy or girl.
To be honest, I think it’s terrible. I would cry if I were named that, whether I were a boy or girl, or a dog or cat. It sounds like vinyl flooring.
Sorry!

[name_m]Dex[/name_m] is quite sweet, though it’s not my style.
I agree with a poster above that Dexlon sounds a bit like a product name, though. There’s a prescription drug called Dexlan and a Dexion manufacturing company:
Would [name_m]Declan[/name_m] or [name_m]Dixon[/name_m] fit your style?
If the nickname is the important thing, here are some other options that might fit your style (some have been mentioned already) :
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_m]Deccan[/name_m], [name_f]Decima[/name_f], [name_m]Decker[/name_m]
Names that get you similar nicknames ([name_m]Dix[/name_m], [name_f]Dixie[/name_f], [name_m]Dax[/name_m] etc):
[name_m]Dixon[/name_m], [name_f]Nordica[/name_f], [name_f]Danica[/name_f], [name_f]Damica[/name_f], [name_m]Daxter[/name_m]
Unisex names starting with D: [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_u]Dallas[/name_u], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_u]Denver[/name_u], [name_u]Daryl[/name_u], [name_u]Dacey[/name_u], [name_u]Dustin[/name_u].
More unisex ‘x’ names: [name_u]Paxton[/name_u], Brixton, [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_u]Onyx[/name_u], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_u]Lennox[/name_u], [name_m]Baxter[/name_m].
Thank you for you thoughts, is Dexlyn better?
I dont mind Dexlon, and i think Dexlon [name_u]Arya[/name_u] is very cute. I prefer Dexlon to Dexlyn.
I agree that Dexlon doesn’t sound like a name so much as a company, medication, or type of flooring (I’m reminded of teflon.) I don’t think Dexlyn makes it any better—I say if you plan to call her [name_m]Dex[/name_m], then name her [name_m]Dex[/name_m]. [name_m]Dex[/name_m] [name_u]Arya[/name_u] sounds okay.
Respellings (especially with a y) are not my thing, but I think it does take the name a little further from “product” territory. That said, there is a (legal) drug called Dexlin:
I’m not a pharmacist or anything - when someone asks about an unusual or uncommon name, I just Google it to see what comes up. Dexlyn does come up as a name first, which is an improvement on Dexlon. Stylistically they’re about equal for me.
Are you expecting a baby, or just collecting names? If you are expecing: Congratulations, and good luck with the name search!
Please don’t. It screams “trying too hard”.
Not a fan, at all. Sorry.
