I know that within this generation, the name [name]Dexter[/name] will long be associated with the unconventionally appealing serial killer. My question, however, is whether or not the name could work for a girl? Would this help remove the name from the association?
I can’t help but think that the name could almost become unisex - a little girl called [name]Dex[/name] would be too cute!
I agree with Penguin. [name]Dexter[/name] is definitely a boy’s name. Nothing feminine about it at all. If you like [name]Dex[/name] though, there are several similar sounding girl names, such as [name]Lex[/name] and Bex.
I don’t think you should give up on little [name]Dex[/name].
I think it could work, I mean I NEVER saw [name]Spencer[/name] coming and people find that name attractive for a girl so why not [name]Dexter[/name]?
[name]Diane[/name] [name]Keaton[/name] has a daughter named [name]Dexter[/name], so it has been used for a girl’s name before. I would just give her a very feminine middle name if you do use [name]Dexter[/name].
I’m not trying to be rude, but seriously??? Girls already have so many great names! Why do people have to steal boys namess too?? It is so hard to find a good boys name nowadays, and to top it off many of the good ones are now associated with girls! Please, I’m begging you…just leave [name]Dex[/name] to the boys!
Tried to post earlier and my post didn’t transmit…
I think [name]Dexter[/name] is firmly in boy territory, but these girl or unisex
names could lend themselves to a girl [name]Dex[/name]:
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Dean[/name] is actress [name]Diane[/name] [name]Keaton[/name]'s daughter. It’s a combo that would make me say “what was she thinking?”. [name]Dextra[/name] would be the feminine alternative to [name]Dexter[/name]. I don’t see the appeal of [name]Dexter[/name] for a girl at all. It’s almost too masculine in sound.
I really don’t like [name]Dexter[/name] for a girl, it’s 100% masculine for me. [name]Dextra[/name], on the other hand, is a gorgeous and unusual name for a girl
At first I would think weird, but I have a feeling it would be one of those names that would be perfect after you let it sink in for a minute. I agree with names4real, you would have to use a very feminine middle name.
No one is hating, we’re stating our opinions, which the OP asked us to do. Yet another example where opinions aren’t wanted because they aren’t positive. You can’t win.
