DH and I are not on the same page...

My DH is set on the name [name]Sloane[/name] if we have a girl. I like it, but don’t [name]LOVE[/name] it. Right now I’m liking the names [name]Leighton[/name], [name]Kieran[/name], and Brinkley. However, not sold on anything. Any thoughts suggestions on names or how to get hubby more open minded?

I really like [name]Leighton[/name]! Maybe [name]Sloane[/name] as a mn would work for your hubby?

[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] or Brinkley [name]Sloane[/name]

[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Hewitt[/name] is the name of a famous Australian male tennis player so the only part of that name that suits is [name]Leigh[/name].

[name]Kieran[/name] another boy’s name. Alternatives [name]Keira[/name], [name]Kerry[/name]-[name]Anne[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Ciel[/name],

Brinkley is a surname for [name]Christie[/name] Brinkley super model, love [name]Christie[/name]

[name]Sloane[/name] has the possiblility of nn Slow

Best wishes to you!

I like [name]Leighton[/name]! [name]Sloane[/name] is okay maybe better for a mn.

I love the suggestions you’ve been given so far.

A couple more -

[name]Auden[/name] - nn [name]Audie[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name] - Mentioned already but I love this name.

[name]Leighton[/name] is one of my favourite unisex names, and it’s still really unusual. I also like [name]Sloane[/name] a lot (although here in the UK it has negative connotations). I’m not sure about Brinkley, and I prefer [name]Kieran[/name] for a boy. I really liked a previous poster’s suggestion of [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Sloane[/name], although I also like the effect that more feminine middle names have on a unisex fn.

Other unisex style names that you may like:

Good luck! [name]Hope[/name] you find something you both love soon.

Thanks everyone. These are all great suggestions. I’ll see what he thinks about [name]Sloane[/name] for the mn. I guess I just really like unisex names for girls b/c these are all great! I never thought name choosing would be this overwhelming. It was fun at first, but I’m starting to just feel stressed!

Some more suggestions…

Sorry if I repeated any of the others. [name]Just[/name] take it as my way of showing my love for it.

[name]Miley[/name] (nn [name]Miles[/name])

[name]Leighton[/name] is an adorable names. I personally adore it. And what i have always done was sit down with my husband and tell him a first and middle name that flow good. Hes always more likely to even listen to a name when he knows how its going to flow. Because if you throw a name like [name]Leighton[/name] at hime, hes going to go “well no name will fit with that for a middle name” and then just tell him wy you like it and what it means. Thats always worked for me. And depending on your last name [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] would work. And personally i dont think [name]Sloane[/name] works as a first name. It sounds like a boys name to me. but i do think it works as a middle name. That way everyone will be happy:)

good luck! hope he comes around!

I once heard you can get any name you want after your husband watches you go through birth. That’s one tactic to consider at least

LOL!! Yes, I’m sure if I could hold off 'til birth then I would be able to get my way. Good idea about presenting first and middle names together. I’ll try that. I’m just really loving [name]Leighton[/name]. Any suggestions on a mn? I was thinking of using [name]Mae[/name] b/c of my grandmother ([name]Rosa[/name] [name]Mae[/name]). Does that work? [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Mae[/name] Hatfield or maybe [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Rosa[/name] Hatfield?

[name]How[/name] about [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Hatfield or [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] Hatfield? [name]Mae[/name] is my grandmothers middle name and I feel it’s it pretty common. [name]Leighton[/name] isn’t a very common first name though so I’m sure it can handle a more common middle.

I like [name]Mae[/name] as a middle name. i think leighton mae is a beatiful name. but going threw the birth will deffinantly help you get your way. lol. but my husband is extra stubborn. so that wouldnt work for me. i have to literally persaude and bribe. lol. names will usually grow on people over time. like my husband wanted to name our first daughter summer michelle. i was not ever crazy bout the name summer. but it grew on me especially cause i knew he liked it so much. good luck!

Yes, I see a lot of bargaining in our future. We’ll find out if we’re having a boy or girl in about 3 weeks. When we find out for sure, I’ll start bringing out the big negotiating guns. We’re torn on boy names too. He likes [name]Dax[/name] and I like [name]Holden[/name]. I actually like [name]Dax[/name] also so that won’t be as tough to decide.

[name]Glad[/name] there are boards like this to discuss on. I think I’d pull my hair out just discussing with my hubby!

Had to reply because my wife and I are actually down to [name]Leighton[/name] and [name]Teagan[/name]. Oddly enough, I actually really liked [name]Sloane[/name] as well, but my wife did not. And, I was in love with the name [name]Kieran[/name] when I first came across it b/c it sounded like an Irish form of [name]Karen[/name]. I was a little disappointed when I found out it was the male form of [name]Keira[/name], which I like, but not as much. We eliminated [name]Kieran[/name] for our girl b/c while we like unisex names, we weren’t ready to trailblaze [name]Kieran[/name] as a unisex name (fortunately that’s already been done for us with [name]Leighton[/name].)

Anyway, I thought I’d post some of the other names that we considered since we seem to have quite a few in common. Also, our baby’s middle name is going to be [name]Olivia[/name] (whether we go with [name]Leighton[/name] or [name]Teagan[/name]).

[name]Ashlyn[/name] (or the Irish spelling [name]Aislinn[/name])

Irishmuth - not that I want to confuse you (and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Leighton[/name] esp!) but I know a female [name]Kieran[/name] who is in her 40s, so it has definitely been done before. Mind you, she’s just changed her name because people kept assuming she was a man, so perhaps that proves you were right to eliminate it!

I have always liked [name]Teagan[/name], and [name]Teagan[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] sounds really lovely.

From your list the absolute favourite is [name]Ainsley[/name], but if it was my baby [name]Teagan[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] would win the day.

Maybe instead of Brinkley, how about [name]Berkeley[/name]

Thanks lamps - we’re about a week away from our due date…I think my wife would kill my if I tried to re-introduce another name : )

Also, I really like the aforementioned suggestion of [name]Berkeley[/name].
